MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, August 21st

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Aaron Judge
Stevietpfl: Bobby Witt
TheLuuch: Bobby Witt
Alex Sonty: Bobby Witt

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani – It’s a tough call between Aaron Judge and Ohtani, but Ohtani will likely see lower pOWN% with the Dodgers facing Logan Gilbert and carrying a lower implied run total. Gilbert is worse on the road (3.38 ERA) than at home (2.53 ERA) this season, and I’m expecting the Dodgers to have some big games on offense now that their lineup is getting healthy. Ohtani has a .367 ISO and a .444 wOBA vs. RHP at home this season.

Stevietpfl: Bobby Witt – The Royals are my favorite stack, and Witt is the top hitter on the slate for me. Cueto has struggled at Triple-A this season, and command has been one of the biggest issues for him. If he struggles with command tonight, he won’t last past the 4th inning. The Angels bullpen is nothing to fear, and this is a fantastic spot for the Royals. Witt has a .279 ISO with a .438 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.

TheLuuch: Juan Soto – If you ask me this question every 30 minutes, I might flip-flop between Soto and Aaron Judge. You can’t go wrong with either of them, but I ultimately believe Judge will be higher owned if we’re splitting hairs. Play both! The Yankees need to hand Soto a blank check. Joey Cantillo, a southpaw, has survived a handful of starts, but he’s giving up plenty of line drives and barrels (especially vs. lefties). The Guardians bullpen is very good, but they used almost everyone that’s a threat during yesterday’s 12-inning affair. Soto owns a .277 ISO and .422 wOBA vs. LHP this year. WeatherEdge gives this game a big boost to home runs, and the Yankee Stadium short porch is calling Soto’s name.

Alex Sonty: Aaron Judge – Judge against a novice lefty with terrible command in Yankee Stadium at under 10% pOWN% is an auto-play for me. Joey Cantillo had monstrous strikeout stuff in their minor league career (11.8 K/9), but he also gave up 4.2 BB/9, which turned into 1.3 HR/9 allowed in 128.1 Triple-A IP. This guy should rack up the Ks, but he’ll also walk a lot of guys and give up a lot of dongs to start his MLB career. Judge’s 31.1% barrel rate, 82% hard-hit rate, and 37.7% fly-ball rate are as close to a perfect profile to attack the vulnerable Cantillo as it gets.
