What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stevietpfl: With FanDuel adding the 4 early games, we have two completely different slates. I expect the Dodgers to be popular on both sites. I plan on focusing on single-entry contests, and my big stand will be fading the cheap Dodgers. On FD, I like some cheap bats from the Marlins, Royals, and Guardians, and on DK, it would be the Rays and Braves. I will look to mix in those bats instead of the popular cheap Dodgers. As far as pitching, I’m not going to mess around with any of the cheaper arms. I want to pay up for Nick Pivetta, Blake Snell, and Chris Sale as much as possible.

stlcardinals84: This is a fun slate. I am going to play around 20 entries in the large-field contests, primarily on DK. My lineups will undoubtedly be a little different than the field, as I do not love playing a chalky Blake Snell and a chalky Dodgers stack – even against the Rockies. I really don’t love the way the Dodgers’ lineup looks against a lefty starter with solid command, and there is pinch-hit risk late in the game for some of the hitters lower in the order. I’ll be underweight on everything Dodgers. The Blue Jays are my favorite stack by a good margin, and I’ll also be quite overweight on Chris Sale as my favorite tournament pitcher.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing 1 lineup in single-entry contests, and although the Dodgers are undeniably the top stack for raw points, I plan to pivot to the Blue Jays. I’ll also be fading the Dodgers pitcher, as I plan to mini-stack against Blake Snell with some cheap Rockies righties.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

stevietpfl: Nick Pivetta — Pivetta draws a great matchup at home. His biggest issue is home runs, and only two hitters in this lineup have an ISO over .200 against RHP this season. Despite the home run issues, he’s been great again this season. He has a 26.5% strikeout rate with a .133 ISO and .255 wOBA allowed. Both his whiff rate and SwStr% have increased from last season. There is a lot of strikeout upside in this matchup. I’m hoping he limits the damage and has a ceiling game in a big spot for the Padres after losing last night.
