What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stevietpfl: I’m going to build 3 teams and play small-field contests. For the second straight day, I’m not in love with the pitching. George Kirby is my favorite, but I don’t think he’s projected high enough to be the chalkiest pitcher on the slate. I will fade Kirby and mix in Ryan Bergert, Will Warren, Zebby Matthews, and Jeffrey Springs. Being underweight on Kirby, I’m going to build my stacks around the Giants.

stlcardinals84: I am playing 3 entries in high-dollar, small-field tournaments because I like the way my 3 different entries look. I am going to play one chalkier build with the obvious Giants stack and cheaper pitching, but I like getting different with my other entries, with teams like the Royals and Twins as viable stacks. You can get strong one-off bats around them. I will also be fading George Kirby in my 3 entries.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing 1 lineup in single-entry contests, and although it’s terrifying, I’ll be fading the Giants at high projected ownership. Ryan Bergert is my top pitching option, and I’ll look to play either Will Warren, Zebby Matthews, or Jeffrey Springs as my SP2 on DraftKings.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

stevietpfl: Ryan Bergert – Since joining the Royals, Bergert has thrown at least 5 innings in 5 straight starts. He’s averaging 91.4 pitches, which is much higher than his average for the season overall (67). His biggest issue continues to be fly balls, which is concerning against the power in this Angels lineup, but I don’t think there is a perfect matchup for a pitcher tonight. I like the strikeout potential, and I’m hoping he can limit the home runs in this game. He needs to develop a third pitch this offseason because he has a great slider.
