What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stlcardinals84: As usual, I will play around 20 entries in the larger-field tournaments. I do really like the more popular options at all positions, so I will set myself apart by going with a narrower player pool than usual and focusing on a handful of stacks with lower pOWN%. The Reds and Mets are the obvious chalk, but I will be overweight on the Cardinals, Tigers, and Guardians as secondary options.

Krayton: I will be playing single-entry and 20-entry-max contests, with the Reds at Coors Field being a team that I am building around. Hunter Greene is projected to be fairly popular, so I also like getting to the under-owned Rockies side and stacking the entire game. Greene has been good, but the Rockies have shown life, and I like playing them when the field is off of them. I do think this is a pitching slate that you can pay down and get away from the popular Jesus Luzardo and Greene, and Clay Holmes is one of my favorites in the mid-tier.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll run just 1 lineup in single-entry contests, and I plan to get different at pitching. I like the idea of spending down and taking shots on Robbie Ray, Ben Brown, and/or Clay Holmes, and I also think Tyler Mahle has a lot of upside in a great pitchers park against the Giants. I’ll be stacking up 2 out of 3 among the Mets, Reds, and Athletics, which shouldn’t be too hard if I utilize affordable pitching options.

tcsmith031: I’ll focus on 20-max this afternoon. I don’t generally make a habit of using pitchers at Coors Field, but I’ll make an exception for Hunter Greene today. Greene has been a legitimate ace this season with a strikeout rate pushing 30%, while the Rockies’ lineup is striking out more than 27% of the time with a weak ISO in the .140 range vs. RHP over the last 2 seasons. We’re also getting a slight discount with Greene at $8,900, so I’ll be well over the field.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
