MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, August 29

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I don’t love the idea of a super expensive, extremely chalky offense on a 12-game slate, but there is just no one even remotely close to the Braves. There is an obvious build with cheap pitching and Braves stacks that is scary to get away from. Personally, I am going to go way over the field on the Braves in the larger-field tournaments, where ownership naturally gets more spread out, and I’ll take some shots on Braves fades in small-field contests, where their ownership is likely to be goofy. I’m also quite content playing Braves mini stacks or individual power bats, while stacking different teams around them. I’m not going to overthink it with Cole Ragans on the pitching side, and for the most part, I will just go double-cheap, with Alex Cobb as my next choice. Though I will also be playing the semi-chalky George Kirby or Justin Steele with Ragans on DK. In the lineups where I’m fading Atlanta, my favorite offenses are the Astros and Red Sox, followed by the Mariners, and then some cheaper darts on teams like the Twins and Royals.

stevietpfl: I want to play the Atlanta bats, so I’ll be underweight on the expensive pitching options. Even at these prices, I expect Atlanta to be popular. They’re the top stack, and it’s not close. I’ll look for a lower-owned mini stack or cheap low-owned one-offs to pair with Atlanta.

squirrelpatrol: On many MLB DFS nights, particularly on large slates, people try to blindly jam in the top stack when it’s not warranted, leading to positive results from playing the other stacks that aren’t owned as highly as they should be. This is not one of those nights. The Braves have an implied run total nearly two runs above the next-highest team, and judging from last night, the Braves weren’t as highly owned as they should have been. I’ll be prioritizing Atlanta bats at the expense of pitchers and other expensive hitters.

tcsmith031: All of the viable cheap pitching should make it easy for us to stack the Braves. I plan to do the same, though to get different, I don’t mind pivoting to a less popular Jose Quintana in place of Alex Cobb or Cole Ragans, as necessary. Focusing on some of Atlanta’s lower-in-the-order bats (Sean Murphy, Michael Harris, etc.) is another solid route.

Dean78904: One of the slate’s biggest decision points is figuring out what to do with the Braves in Coors Field. I just can’t see myself getting away from them, but I’ll do my best to roll out different iterations when stacking them. If you’re looking to load up on Atlanta, Cole Ragans is your friend. Trouble is he won’t be exclusive to your Top 8 friend list. Tom and everyone else can very clearly see Ragans + Braves is a thing. I’m not saying you can’t go this route. Just be mindful filling out the rest of your lineup when starting with that construction.
