Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Friday, May 10th

CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Friday! We’ve got a big ol’ 12-game slate that is one of the tougher groups of games we’ve had this season. We find a slew of pitching options in all different price ranges, and then we’ve got a Coors Field game along with several other good offenses against some of the weaker pitchers on the slate.
I will let you know right off the top, particularly on the pitching side, that this is one of those days when you could come to a completely different player pool than me, and you’re not doing anything wrong. I won’t be yelling at you today, at least not for your DFS lineups!
Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This is a good-looking pitcher slate, with a mix of high-strikeout arms along with better-in-real-life pitchers. We also have quite a few names here whose small-sample 2024 skills look way better than would have been expected a month ago. Let’s dig in and see what we can decipher from all this:
HOW MANY OVER $9,000? FIVE GUYS!
Joe Ryan at Blue Jays – 28.4% K, 3.7 %% BB, 3.54 ERA, 2.91 SIERA
Tyler Glasnow at Padres – 32.3% K, 6.7% BB, 2.70 ERA, 2.73 SIERA
Ranger Suarez at Marlins – 26.9% K, 3.5% BB, 1.72 ERA, 2.61 SIERA
Yusei Kikuchi vs. Twins – 26.5% K, 5.6% BB, 2.72 ERA, 3.10 SIERA
Tanner Houck vs. Nationals – 25.4% K, 3.9% BB, 1.99 ERA, 2.79 SIERA
Some days I wonder if I just try to find a reason to get five pitchers in the top tier so I can think about fries, but that’s really not the case. I think about fries regardless of the number of pitchers in my top tier. Today, we can simply separate things using DK pricing, which leaves us with this solid top group.
If everyone here had the same matchup and salary, I’d side with Tyler Glasnow as the ace. All these pitchers are good, but he has the most trustable strikeout ability over a long sample size. The problem is that he is the most expensive pitcher, and he has a lower-strikeout matchup. Meanwhile, we have a good splits matchup for Joe Ryan and an overall good matchup for the red-hot Ranger Suarez. I’m still going to say that Glasnow is my SP1, and he has the highest ceiling on this slate, but in a world of a salary cap, I am not starting with him as a high-priority spend.
