Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Friday 5/29

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the May 29, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Friday! We close out the week with a very tricky 12-game slate. There are a lot of mediocre pitchers, who are not good enough to want to play but not terrible enough to make it ideal for stacking against. This leaves me with a very muddled pool on both the pitching and hitting sides, with the exception of two very obvious (and likely chalky) offenses. We’ll see what we can figure out as we dig through it, but my guess is that this is going to land as one of those ‘play whoever you want’ kind of slates.
Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

The best pitcher on the board is facing the Dodgers, and everyone else has question marks. I’ll use $8,500 on DK as the cut-off between tiers, but there is not much that would count as top-tier options on a lot of slates.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Zack Wheeler at Dodgers – 25.5% K, 5.7% BB, 1.67 ERA, 3.17 SIERA
- Max Meyer at Mets – 27.2% K, 8.8% BB, 2.52 ERA, 3.45 SIERA
- Shota Imanaga at Cardinals – 25.7% K, 6.5% BB, 4.04 ERA, 3.41 SIERA
- Freddy Peralta vs. Marlins – 24% K, 10.3% BB, 3.52 ERA, 4.02 SIERA
- George Kirby vs. Diamondbacks – 19.8% K, 5.8% BB, 3.54 ERA, 3.63 SIERA
- MacKenzie Gore vs. Royals – 26.6% K, 11.2% BB, 4.42 ERA, 3.89 SIERA
Zack Wheeler appears to be back to full strength after a late start to the season. His last 2 starts have looked like vintage Wheeler, with 15 scoreless innings and a 14:2 K:BB ratio. His control has always been elite, and I would expect the strikeouts to end up back in at least the 27-28% range of 2023-2024, even if he doesn’t make it all the way back to the 33.3% K rate from last season. At his best, he’s basically as matchup-proof as they come, although it would still be tough to expect a ceiling game against the Dodgers. He’s also the most-expensive pitcher on both sites, and there is at least some chance that his slightly slipping numbers against lefties this season are real. Between the Dodgers’ power, low strikeouts, and high walks, my lean is that this is not the slate where we need to prioritize spending up for Wheeler. I’ll always be happy playing him, but let’s see what else we can find.
