Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Monday, April 22nd
CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Monday! We’ve got a 7-game slate tonight that is quite lopsided on the hitting side with the Padres visiting Coors Field and the Braves facing Ryan Weathers and the Marlins. If your goal is to be different, it will be easy to figure out what you need to do! The pitching side is a little trickier with good, but not elite, pitchers in less-than-ideal matchups. Let’s dive on in and see what we find.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
I’m going to sort these pitchers into two tiers based on DK pricing, starting with the 6 options above $8,000 and followed by everyone else below that mark.
TOP-TIER PITCHING
Dylan Cease at Rockies – 27.6% K, 10.3% BB, 4.28 ERA, 4.06 SIERA
Brady Singer vs. Blue Jays – 19.7% K, 7.1% BB, 5.02 ERA, 4.33 SIERA
Reid Detmers vs. Orioles – 27.1% K, 9.2% BB, 4.04 ERA, 3.96 SIERA
Yusei Kikuchi at Royals – 26.7% K, 7.1% BB, 3.66 ERA, 3.75 SIERA
Brandon Pfaadt at Cardinals – 22.4% K, 5.6% BB, 5.64 ERA, 4.11 SIERA
Lance Lynn vs. Diamondbacks – 23.4% K, 8.3% BB, 5.37 ERA, 4.32 SIERA
It’s not exactly a great pitching slate, but I would call it an extremely interesting pitching slate. The best long-term pitcher is at Coors Field but is also facing the Rockies, so hmmm. We then find two pitchers, Reid Detmers and Yusei Kikuchi, with just OK long-term numbers who are both up over 33% strikeouts this season but facing good offenses. Then we have Brady Singer, who looked like an ace for one start and otherwise has looked like, well, Brady Singer. And then we have Brandon Pfaadt, who may or may not be good, but he is a power-prone pitcher facing one of the lowest-power offenses in the league. Let’s see what we can figure out here.
