Happy Monday! We kick off a new week with a 7-game slate, headlined by the Astros traveling to Coors Field. This creates quite a conundrum for me, and the next few days will be an interesting decision point, though I can come to you from the future and tell you that it took me about five seconds to get comfortable with the Houston fade. Whether or not it’s that easy for you, I do not know. Let’s dig in and find out.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We’ve got a pretty good pitching slate, and DK is continuing to keep everyone reasonably priced, without a single pitcher reaching the $10,000 mark.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Chris Sale at Angels – 32.4% K, 6.3% BB, 2.58 ERA, 2.88 SIERA
- Logan Gilbert at Rangers – 32.3% K, 5.8% BB, 3.44 ERA, 2.86 SIERA
- Jacob deGrom vs. Mariners – 27.7% K, 5.5% BB, 2.97 ERA, 3.32 SIERA
- Joe Ryan vs. Tigers – 28.2% K, 5.7% BB, 3.42 ERA, 3.32 SIERA
- Andrew Painter at Giants – 2nd career start
Chris Sale hasn’t been quite as dominant with the strikeouts in his first 2 starts this season, but he has still gone 12 innings with just 1 run allowed. His velocity and Stuff+ numbers look fine (a skosh below 2025, but the same or better than 2023-2024), and this is his first high-strikeout matchup of the season. As always, the Angels present some power risk, but that is outweighed by 5 batters in the projected lineup with strikeout rates above 29% against LHP since the start of last season. There are plenty of good pitchers on this slate, so I don’t think you absolutely have to play Sale at the highest salary (and likely the highest ownership) on both sites. But I do think he’s clearly the SP1. Let’s see what else we find before deciding how much to prioritize him.
