Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Monday 8/3

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the August 3, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Monday! We kick off the week with a smaller 7-game slate on DK and an 8-game slate on FD (which starts a bit earlier at 6:40 PM ET). FD is adding the WSH/PHI game to their slate, which gives us even more offense on a slate that is very hitting-heavy to begin with. We’ll have a weird few days with the Rays traveling to Coors Field. My initial thought is that the Rays probably score 25-30 runs in their 3-game series in Colorado, but I can see it being all spread out strangely enough to barely matter for DFS purposes at their salaries.
Let’s dig in to this slate and see what we find!
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

This slate has a stunning lack of pitching options once we get below the lone ace, Cam Schlittler. At the time I’m writing this (early morning), Justin Wrobleski is not confirmed as the starter for the Dodgers, but he looks like the most likely candidate. There are really no tiers to speak of outside of Schlittler being in his own tier up top, so this is what we have…
- Cam Schlittler vs. Cardinals – 30.7% K, 4.8% BB, 2.04 ERA, 2.85 SIERA
- Logan Webb at Rangers – 19.1% K, 6.2% BB, 3.93 ERA, 3.97 SIERA
- Justin Wrobleski at Cubs – 19.4% K, 4.7% BB, 2.88 ERA, 4.10 SIERA
- Matthew Boyd vs. Dodgers – 21.9% K, 6.9% BB, 3.41 ERA, 4.00 SIERA
- Brandon Sproat vs. Pirates – 24.1% K, 11.6% BB, 5.05 ERA, 4.31 SIERA
- Michael King at Diamondbacks – 21.2% K, 9.7% BB, 3.38 ERA, 4.45 SIERA
- Cristian Javier vs. Blue Jays – 20.8% K, 14.9% BB, 7.17 ERA, 5.26 SIERA
- Brandon Pfaadt vs. Padres – 15.9% K, 6.8% BB, 4.00 ERA, 4.49 SIERA
- Bubba Chandler at Brewers – 20.1% K, 12.3% BB, 4.56 ERA, 4.95 SIERA
- Ian Seymour at Rockies – 27.9% K, 8.7% BB, 4.37 ERA, 3.49 SIERA
- Aaron Nola vs. Nationals (FD) – 23.3% K, 7.8% BB, 5.61 ERA, 4.00 SIERA
Cam Schlittler is in a completely different stratosphere than every other pitcher on this slate. The way baseball works, we will almost certainly have a couple of random cheaper pitchers who put up similar scores as Schlittler, but trying to guess who they will be is a fool’s errand. You can argue that Schlittler is not “worth” $2,000 more than the next-closest pitcher on DK, and if he doesn’t have a ceiling game, you may not end up thrilled with the points-per-dollar output you get from him. But as I look through this slate, I’m just not seeing anyone else who I can have even the slightest bit of confidence in. Matchup really doesn’t matter for Schlittler – he’s simply an elite pitcher who has been as consistent as anyone in the league. He’s the very clear SP1 on both sites, and unless I find something more than what I’m expecting as we move on, I’m going to be prioritizing him on both sites.
