Happy Monday! This is an irregular day due to the Memorial Day holiday, with games spread out all over the place. The sites have not helped out a lot, with completely different main slates between DK and FD. I’ll start with a focus on the 8-game DK slate that begins first at 1:05 PM ET. Then I’ll add in some thoughts on the FD slate, which contains 5 of those 8 games along with 2 later games. That FD main slate begins at 4:10 PM ET.
We’ll also need to keep on eye on the MLB weather for three games – BOS/BAL, KC/MIN, and LAD/NYM. For now, they all look good enough that I’m going to assume they all play, but we have an early Crunch Time at 12:15 PM ET where you’ll be able to get a final look at those spots.
One more housekeeping note for you to be aware of – I am going to be off most of the next week. I plan to pop in this Thursday and next Monday, but otherwise, you won’t see me until next Wednesday, June 5th. You will still get a full slate breakdown every day, as stlcardinals84 will be here with his Covering The Bases in my absence.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We don’t really have tiers today. It’s just sort of one decent bucket of OK pitchers. I will end up on a pretty tight player pool, and the field is likely to agree.
Joe Ryan vs. Royals – 27% K, 3.8% BB, 3.15 ERA, 3.07 SIERA
Nick Lodolo at Cardinals – 30.7% K, 6.4% BB, 3.34 ERA, 2.87 SIERA
Charlie Morton vs. Nationals – 24.8% K, 10% BB, 3.35 ERA, 3.86 SIERA
Chris Bassitt at White Sox – 20.5% K, 10.5% BB, 4.39 ERA, 4.42 SIERA
Gavin Stone at Mets – 16.3% K, 8.1% BB, 3.60 ERA, 4.62 SIERA
Lance Lynn at Reds – 21.4% K, 8.9% BB, 3.68 ERA, 4.20 SIERA
Justin Steele at Brewers – 21.3% K, 5.6% BB, 5.68 ERA, 3.84 SIERA
Joe Ryan is the ace on this slate and certainly my SP1 in a world where salary cap and ownership don’t exist. However, he’s also a guy who has been morphing slightly more into a great real-life pitcher who is only pretty good for DFS. The strikeout upside is absolutely still here, but he’s been much more about the elite control and has only topped 7 strikeouts 2 times in 10 starts this season. The matchup doesn’t help his upside and has plenty of power risk in it as well. So basically, I’m left with just saying that, sure, Ryan is my SP1 if I just don’t need the salary elsewhere, but let’s see what we find at lower salaries before getting too invested here.
