Million Dollar Musings: Monday, September 11

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Monday! We open the week with a sketchy-looking weather slate that includes two games at Orange and another Yellow/Orange. I am going to just include all these games in the write-up as if everything plays cleanly, but this is a day where we’re going to need to stay nimble until the later weather report and be sure to tune into Crunch Time to get final thoughts.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We have a very strong pitching slate, starting with a top four of high-end pitchers in good matchups.
Tyler Glasnow at Twins – 33.5% K, 7% BB, 3.07 ERA, 3.01 SIERA
Brandon Woodruff vs. Marlins – 31.3% K, 6.8% BB, 2.30 ERA, 3.35 SIERA
Framber Valdez vs. A’s – 23.7% K, 6.6% BB, 3.30 ERA, 3.74 SIERA
Logan Gilbert vs. Angels – 25.4% K, 4.5% BB, 3.61 ERA, 3.67 SIERA
This is a fantastical top four of very good pitchers in very good matchups. If we were playing a no-salary-cap game, I would have these four pitchers and no one else. Even in the salary-cap world in which we live, I want to do everything possible to just play these four.
Logan Gilbert not only has the great matchup with an Angels team that is filled with strikeouts, he’s also upped his strikeouts considerably, with a 29.6% K rate over his last seven starts. He has the best control of this top tier and as good a matchup as any of them. If we start by assuming that salary is a big issue, then Gilbert looks like the SP1.
If chasing upside with no concern for salary, then Tyler Glasnow is the SP1. He reminded us of the absurd talent here with a 14-strikeout gem against Boston last week, and he’s also been more consistent than usual with innings, going 6+ in nine straight starts. The Twins have a lot more power than the Angels but the same high strikeout rate. If it looks like the high salary might keep Glasnow’s ownership in check, this is where I want to start.
