Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the July 11, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Saturday! Cards will be back with you tomorrow for the last slate before the All-Star Break, and then we all get a few days off before getting back to the grind Friday. For today, we have a split slate with games spread out all over the place.

DK has a 6-game early slate starting at 4:05pm ET, while FD has a 5-game early slate at the same time, but they are not including the Brewers/Pirates game. That game is the 2nd game of a doubleheader, which starts at 12:05pm ET, so just be aware you may not get lineups for that game until pretty close to lock if you are playing on DK. For the evening slate, we have a 6-gamer starting at the usual 7:05pm ET.

Since it’s 7/11, I think I should take this opportunity to tell you that I am pretty sure I am responsible for 7-Eleven having those curved Slurpee lids that allow to fill your cups over the rim with the deliciousness. Back in high school, a couple of friends and I went to 7-Eleven every single day after school. This was back in the days of flat lids. We would always stand there, fill it up, drink a little, then fill it up again, trying to get a little extra on top without spilling. One day, I said to my friends and the store owner that there should really be a better way to do that. Why couldn’t they make a bigger lid to have that mound on top without spilling? Well, about a year later, voila: 7-Eleven had those curved lids that you now know and love. You are very welcome!

Saturday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Schlittler of the Yankees

We have some pretty good pitchers on this slate, with the matchups and salaries leaving me with a narrowed pool.

We have a clear best pitcher in Cam Schlittler, but he’s also in his own pricing tier at $11,000 on FD and $10,900 on DK. He has a tougher matchup against Washington, but he’s one of those pitchers whose skill set is so elite that he is close to matchup-proof. It’s just one of those cases where I’d say a ceiling game is less likely against the low-strikeout Nationals, so it’s a little more about paying for the high floor. Let’s see what else we find and then determine if we need to prioritize Schlittler.

Logan Gilbert is back to looking more like the ace we saw last season. He’s up to a 30.3% K rate with a 5.1% BB rate over his last 10 starts, which basically makes him look exactly like Schlittler. This is what I expect moving forward, and simply based on skill set alone, I think Gilbert should be more in the Schlittler pricing tier. His matchup today is no better for strikeouts, but it’s a little better for power prevention and in a better ballpark. I’ll take Gilbert with the discount ahead of Schlittler as my SP1.

Eury Perez is an inconsistent pitcher, but after coming off the IL, he has looked good, with back-to-back 8-strikeout games. He’s also been very good at home each of the last 2 seasons, and he gets a great matchup with the Guardians. He’s not the same style of pitcher as Sandy Alcantara, but I like Perez just as much today for this matchup. Perez is never going to be “safe” given his control issues to lefties, but with the lack of power from Cleveland along with 5 high-strikeout bats, I’m very in on Perez at this salary. He’s my SP2.

Griffin Jax is up to a 25.6% K rate after an outstanding 10-K game against the Yankees last week. He’s still going to be pitch-count limited, with 5 innings far more likely than 6, and 6 IP is almost certainly the best-case scenario. But he’s still down at $7,900 on DK, where 5 innings is fine as long as the home runs stay in check. That is the one thing in his skill set that looks like it could be an issue, but his home ballpark also helps that. The matchup with Seattle is decent, and he lands as my SP4. I prefer Gilbert, Perez, and Schlittler, but at his salary, he’s also firmly in the primary pool.

I’m going to remain out on Freddy Peralta in primary lineups for now. We’ve been saying this for a while: He’s simply an average pitcher. He’s not bad at all, and it’s a pretty good matchup, but I just see better pitchers we can be playing on this slate. I wouldn’t argue with you if you had him ahead of Jax; I just slightly prefer Jax and don’t expect to play both of them.

The same goes for Tanner Bibee against the Marlins. Bibee has the lowest strikeout rate of any of these options, and he faces a Marlins team that has the lowest strikeout rate of any of these opponents.

On DK, we add Shane Drohan to the mix at $7,500 against the Pirates. The Pirates are always a far better matchup for left-handed pitchers with their mix of high-strikeout and low-power bats. He lives in that Griffin Jax range, where 5 innings is more likely than 6, but that is all priced in here. His skill set is still a step below Jax and more in the Peralta range, so that leaves him as my SP5 on DK.
