CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.

Happy Thursday! We’ve got a slow day, with just a 5-game main slate at the usual 7:05 PM ET start time. If you’re playing the early 3-gamer, we’ll have some expert tags in LineupHQ to help you get started building your Yankees stacks against Patrick Corbin.

The five games tonight have a pretty even mix of pitching and hitting, with some clear tiers of MLB DFS picks on both sides.

I end up finding eight pitchers that are worth mentioning, although I end up narrowing down even further than that. I’ll sort into three buckets based on DK pricing.

TRIO OF ALMOST ACES

Pablo Lopez vs. Rangers – 29.9% K, 6.2% BB, 3.51 ERA, 3.35 SIERA
Justin Steele at Pirates – 23.2% K, 5.1% BB, 2.80 ERA, 3.79 SIERA
Merrill Kelly vs. Reds – 25.4% K, 9.3% BB, 3.13 ERA, 4.13 SIERA

As much as I love Pablo Lopez, he is the highest-priced pitcher on both sites in a tough matchup against Texas. On FD, the salaries of the top three are fairly close, while on DK, Lopez is basically in his own pricing tier. He’s been so good and consistent that I still call him the SP1 in a no-salary-cap world, but it’s very close with the top three pitchers. Let’s look at the next couple options before determining how strongly to prioritize Lopez.
