Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 4/22
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Tuesday! We’ve got a 10-game slate at the usual 7:10 PM ET start time that appears to be loaded with offense. I quickly end up with a very narrowed-down pitcher pool, but there is a lot of space to spread out as far as you want with bats.
We’ve got a few weather spots to keep an eye on, though as of now, it’s looking more likely that everything will play without much concern. Just be sure to check back in with Kevin Roth’s MLB weather page prior to lock to make sure that nothing has worsened.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We don’t have a single pitcher above $9,000 on DK, and on both sites, the viable pitchers are all within roughly a $3,000 price range, so I’m not going to separate this into tiers based on pricing. I end up with a very small pitcher pool pretty quickly. Because we are not filled with elite aces, you can certainly make the case to spread out as far as you want, but I’m going to be quick and to the point here.
TUESDAY’S TOP TIER AND ONLY TIER
- Kris Bubic vs. Rockies – 29.5% K, 6.3% BB, 2.32 ERA, 2.69 SIERA
- Cristopher Sanchez at Mets – 21.5% K, 5.8% BB, 3.28 ERA, 3.46 SIERA
- Shota Imanaga vs. Dodgers – 24.2% K, 4.7% BB, 2.81 ERA, 3.65 SIERA
- Chris Bassitt at Astros – 23.4% K, 8.8% BB, 3.75 ERA, 4.09 SIERA
- Bailey Ober vs. White Sox – 26.2% K, 6.2% BB, 4.19 ERA, 3.64 SIERA
- Brandon Pfaadt vs. Rays – 23.8% K, 5.5% BB, 4.51 ERA, 3.67 SIERA
- Jordan Hicks vs. Brewers – 19.9% K, 9.8% BB, 4.43 ERA, 4.41 SIERA
- Jose Soriano vs. Pirates – 20.5% K, 9.6% BB, 3.38 ERA, 3.99 SIERA
- Osvaldo Bido vs. Rangers – 22.1% K, 9.5% BB, 3.21 ERA, 4.42 SIERA
- Griffin Canning vs. Phillies – 18.3% K, 9.1% BB, 5.00 ERA, 4.75 SIERA
- Ronel Blanco vs. Blue Jays – 24.3% K, 10.4% BB, 3.13 ERA, 4.22 SIERA
- Dustin May at Cubs – 3 starts since 2023
- Zack Littell at Diamondbacks – 21.3% K, 4.9% BB, 3.86 ERA, 3.99 SIERA
- Ryan Feltner at Royals – 19.9% K, 8% BB, 4.52 ERA, 4.34 SIERA
- Patrick Corbin at A’s – 18.1% K, 7.1% BB, 5.53 ERA, 4.42 SIERA
When I look at this list of pitchers, I see three or four pitchers that look like a primary pool, two or three more to add to MME, and then just a bunch of nonsense dart-throwing.
Kris Bubic, Chris Bassitt, Cristopher Sanchez, and Bailey Ober are my primary pool, with Brandon Pfaadt and maybe Jose Soriano next, and then I think I’m pretty much done. Let’s take a look just to make sure though.
Kris Bubic wasn’t quite as great last time out, but we’ve still got a guy with a 27:9 K:BB ratio in 24 innings, coming off a season where he was absolutely elite as a reliever. He has given me no reason to doubt the talent, and even in a tougher matchup, he’d be in my primary pool on this slate. Tonight, he gets the goofy Rockies lineup which has just 1 batter in the projected lineup below a 28% K rate against LHP since the start of last season. That is truly remarkable nonsense. Bubic is my SP1, and it’s not particularly close.
Chris Bassitt has been absolutely elite this season, and he has a long track record of being good. I don’t see any changes enough to think that his current 33.3% K rate is real, so for now, I’m just assuming he ends up as the same 22-23% guy as always, but it’s at least conceivable that he can keep the hot streak going. What I love here is that he’s exactly the right type of pitcher to face the righty-heavy Astros. Since the start of last season, he is a 25.4% K pitcher with 6.4% walks and an .067 ISO allowed against righties. The Astros have a low-power group of righties who are only slightly below average in strikeouts. The matchup is enough better for Bubic to prioritize him, but Bassitt is my SP2.
