Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 4/29
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Tuesday! We have a wild-looking 10-game slate that has a load of high-end pitching with upside, and the offense is highlighted by one of the highest team totals we’ve seen this season, with the Braves in Coors Field. If there was no salary cap tonight, this would be a very simple slate, but it ends up being quite tricky due to those pesky salaries, with a few different paths looking equally viable.
There are a lot of MLB weather issues in the early games, but it looks like everything is going to be fine for our main slate tonight, so let’s dive in and see what we find.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We have a loaded pitching slate, starting with 8 aces priced between $8,000-$10,500 on DK, followed by a solid group in the midrange as well. This slate is particularly tricky with the pricing, the matchups, and some of the small-sample numbers so far this season.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Freddy Peralta at White Sox – 26.5% K, 8.1% BB, 2.43 ERA, 3.52 SIERA
- Garrett Crochet at Blue Jays – 29.7% K, 10.1% BB, 1.95 ERA, 3.29 SIERA
- Logan Webb at Padres – 30.8% K, 7% BB, 1.98 ERA, 2.51 SIERA
- Jacob deGrom vs. A’s – 23.9% K, 6.4% BB, 3.33 ERA, 3.54 SIERA
- Nick Pivetta vs. Giants – 27% K, 6.3% BB, 1.20 ERA, 3.25 SIERA
- Bryce Miller vs. Angels – 22.9% K, 12.8% BB, 4.21 ERA, 4.52 SIERA
- Taj Bradley vs. Royals – 22.5% K, 10% BB, 5.08 ERA, 4.12 SIERA
- Eduardo Rodriguez at Mets – 27.6% K, 5.7% BB, 4.40 ERA, 3.02 SIERA
If we just take the 5-6 starts for most of these guys this season, it would appear as if Logan Webb has jumped to the top of the pack in skill set. But as much as I love the guy in real life, this extreme strikeout boost is really just 2 big starts that are still most likely outliers. His other 4 starts look exactly like the Webb we’ve always known, which is a guy who will be great in real life but more often just pitching up something like a strikeout per inning. With a very low-strikeout matchup against the Padres, that is what I expect tonight. But on the plus side, this is also a very low-power Padres lineup, and adding in Webb’s ground-ball ability and long leash, it’s hard to imagine a bad start here. I’m going to start by saying he is the pitcher I am most confident in on this slate, but he’s probably not the highest-upside option either. Let’s move on before deciding if he’s the SP1.
If we use 2024-2025 numbers, Garrett Crochet would be the upside ace on this slate, but like Webb, he has a very low-strikeout matchup against a Toronto team that can get mostly right-handed against him. I have no concerns at all with his ability to get back to the elite strikeout numbers, but I do have moderate concerns about his control and efficiency.
