Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a split-slate kind of day with an early 5-gamer starting at 1:10 PM ET. I’ll take a quick peek at that early slate and then be back shortly with a dive into the 7-game main slate, which begins at 7:07 PM ET. As always, we will have Expert tags and blurbs for both slates in our MLB DFS optimizer, LineupHQ.

Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We’ve got a clear dividing line at pitcher, with three aces up top and then a drop to another trio of cheaper options.
TOP TIER TRIO
Joe Ryan at Cubs – 27.3% K, 4.3% BB, 3.59 ERA, 3.27 SIERA
Luis Gil vs. Angels – 28.5% K, 11.4% BB, 3.20 ERA, 3.92 SIERA
Yusei Kikuchi at Rangers – 27.2% K, 6.4% BB, 4.67 ERA, 3.42 SIERA
Joe Ryan is in a similar spot, with a similar skill set, as Pablo Lopez last night. The bad start from Lopez has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on Ryan today. The weather at Wrigley should be helpful, but not extreme, as WeatherEdge is showing something like a 14% decrease to home runs. That matters, but it doesn’t make the fly balls of Ryan safe from power. What it does is give a slight boost to a guy who already looks like the best pitcher on the slate. When you add his strong control in alongside his steady strikeouts, Ryan checks in as the SP1.
Luis Gil and Yusei Kikuchi have the same best-case-scenario upside as Ryan, but they both have lower-strikeout matchups, and Gil has his own control issues to contend with. On FD, where Ryan and Gil are basically the same price, I side clearly with Ryan. On DK, however, we find a $1,400 gap in salary, so let’s take a deeper look at Gil.
