Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Wednesday 6/24

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the June 24, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Wednesday! We have a massive difference between the sites tonight, which makes things tricky for breaking everything down. DK is starting at the usual 7:07 PM ET and has just 7 games on their slate. FD is flipping things around to start at 6:40 PM ET, adding an additional 4 games but also leaving off Game 2 of the CHC/NYM doubleheader (which is on the DK slate). The added games on FD are very significant on both the pitching and hitting sides, so I’ll do my best to sort out those differences.
There is also an early 4-game slate on DK that starts at 1:10 PM ET, and we’ll have Expert tags and analysis available in our MLB DFS optimizer, LineupHQ, to help get you started if you’re playing that slate.
Wednesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

The top tier is a completely different thing on DK, where we have one ace in his own pricing tier. If you’re playing on both sites, you’re going to need to treat them as different animals and try not to get too locked into a player pool that you try to move to the other site.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Shohei Ohtani at Twins – 27% K, 7.6% BB, 1.47 ERA, 3.41 SIERA
- Joe Ryan vs. Dodgers – 28.1% K, 5.1% BB, 2.99 ERA, 3.18 SIERA
- Trey Yesavage vs. Astros – 23.7% K, 11.2% BB, 3.76 ERA, 4.44 SIERA
- Gage Jump at Giants – 22% K, 7.6% BB, 2.37 ERA, 4.09 SIERA
- Shota Imanaga at Mets (DK) – 24.1% K, 6.3% BB, 4.26 ERA, 3.74 SIERA
- Tarik Skubal vs. Yankees (FD) – 26.9% K, 3.8% BB, 3.02 ERA, 2.99 SIERA
- Bryan Woo at Pirates (FD) – 24.9% K, 4.5% BB, 3.49 ERA, 3.51 SIERA
- Braxton Ashcraft vs. Mariners (FD) – 26.3% K, 6% BB, 3.18 ERA, 3.33 SIERA
- Ryan Weathers at Tigers (FD) – 27.2% K, 6.7% BB, 4.13 ERA, 3.37 SIERA
The FD and DK slates are very different with these top-tier pitchers. On DK, Shohei Ohtani is completely in his own pricing tier and looks like the very clear SP1. On FD, pitchers like Joe Ryan and even Gage Jump are priced closer to Ohtani, and we also add several more aces to the mix, most notably Tarik Skubal at just $10,000.
Starting on DK, as much as Shohei Ohtani stands out, when you look at the skill sets, I’m not sure it’s fair to say that he’s definitely better than Joe Ryan. Before including matchup, I would say he’s definitely not $1,600 better than Ryan. It’s fair to say that Ohtani has a real skill in limiting barrels and hard contact, but there’s still no world in which a .222 BABIP and 4.8% HR/FB rate are going to last forever. The bigger issue to me is a good, but not elite, 27% K rate is simply not worth $11,500. If the salary just doesn’t matter, sure, play Ohtani. I would still call him the SP1 for raw points, but I do not see him as some sort of ‘must play at all costs’ kind of pitcher.
Joe Ryan has obvious power risk against the Dodgers and their lefty power, but the reality is he has a higher strikeout rate than Ohtani, a lower walk rate than Ohtani, and a lower SIERA than Ohtani. Plus, while it’s a tough matchup from many angles, there are 4 higher-strikeout bats at the bottom of the lineup, and with his elite control, even if he allows a couple homers, that doesn’t necessarily ruin his night. I won’t touch him on FD, but on DK, I like him as much as Ohtani with the salary factored in.
Trey Yesavage is supposed to be good…but goodness gracious on his last 5 starts. Maybe he’s been on the unlucky side with the 5 HRs in his last 3 starts, but there is nothing unlucky about a 19.5% K rate and 13.8% walks in those last 5 starts. In theory, the matchup helps, as he’s been better against righties, but all of these ups and downs, especially with the control, make me extremely nervous. There is still plenty of potential here, and it can show up at any time, but this is not a guy I’m going to play in primary lineups right now.
I’ll take Gage Jump over Yesavage in this pricing tier on DK. I certainly don’t expect the 2.37 ERA to continue, but he’s held up quite well in his first 5 career starts, and his pedigree and minor-league track record have similar upside to Yesavage. In the long run, Yesavage is probably still going to be the better pitcher, but right now, give me the guy who’s shown solid control and gets the ballpark boost in San Francisco. With salary factored in, I like Jump as much as Ohtani and Ryan on DK.
After I wrote that last paragraph, it now sounds like the Cubs are going to start Shota Imanaga in the nightcap, which adds him right into this same mix on DK. He’s priced at $8,300, which further boots Yesavage out of my player pool. But Imanaga vs. Jump becomes an interesting conundrum. These are both pretty good matchups, but I think I’d prefer facing the Mets with a lefty at this point. Imanaga goes wherever HR/FB variance takes him, and he can pile up quick, easy innings in a hurry when the fly balls stay in the park. I’m going to say I prefer Imanaga over Jump, although I’m now kind of thinking this may be the combo, making it even easier to pass on the Ohtani salary.

On FD, things shift dramatically, with Ohtani, Ryan, and Jump all priced ahead of Tarik Skubal, Braxton Ashcraft, and Bryan Woo.
