Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Wednesday, May 22nd

CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Wednesday! We have a split slate today, with the evening’s main slate being slightly different between the sites.
I will start with a quick peek at the early 4-game slate which begins at 1:05 PM ET. Note that on DK, the BAL/STL game is no longer included due to last night’s suspended game.
I’ll then take a dive into the evening slate, which begins at 6:40 PM ET on both sites but includes 10 games on DK vs. just 8 games on FD.
Then I’ll have lunch and watch Tarik Skubal and Cole Ragans battle it out!
Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This slate gives us two aces squaring off and then a bunch of weird dart-throwing.
Tarik Skubal at Royals – 31.6% K, 3.8% BB, 1.80 ERA, 2.52 SIERA
Cole Ragans vs. Tigers – 27.6% K, 7.8% BB, 3.70 ERA, 3.35 SIERA
Triston McKenzie vs. Mets – 20.1% K, 14.1% BB, 3.23 ERA, 5.16 SIERA
Hunter Brown vs. Angels – 22.9% K, 11.7% BB, 7.71 ERA, 4.23 SIERA
Simeon Woods Richardson at Nationals – 20% K, 4.8% BB, 2.97 ERA, 3.98 SIERA
Jake Irvin – 18.4% K, 4.3% BB, 3.91 ERA, 3.97 SIERA
Jose Quintana at Guardians – 15.5% K, 8.7% BB, 5.21 ERA, 4.77 SIERA
We have two aces, but only one of them is Tarik Skubal. Do you want to guess which one of them is Tarik Skubal? That’s right, it’s Tarik Skubal!
If you’ve been following along with me, you know I don’t like playing pitchers against the Royals. But you know who else I don’t like playing pitchers against? The Diamondbacks, Astros, Yankees, and Royals. Those are the last four teams Skubal has mowed down. You might notice that he only threw 74 pitches in his last start, but this is nothing to be concerned about. He had gone 6 scoreless innings, and the team was up 13-0. He’s typically around 90 pitches in non-blowouts. This skill set is completely elite in every way, and on a 4-game slate, I am just playing the ace.
The matchup is slightly better for his opponent, Cole Ragans, who has the same upside as Skubal. He’s not quite as good, but he also has a longer leash to match the ceiling potential from his opponent. My strong preference is just to play both pitchers from this game on DK if I can find enough value bats.
After the two aces, we’re choosing between some nonsense for something cheaper. When I look at Triston McKenzie and Hunter Brown…
