Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Wednesday 5/7
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Wednesday! We have a split slate kind of day, with an early 5-game slate on DK starting at 1:10 PM ET and then a slightly different main slate on each site. The FD main slate starts at 6:45 PM ET, while DK’s will start at 7:05 PM ET.
It looks like we have just one major MLB weather concern, with the CWS/KC game later tonight. That is not a super important game on this slate anyway, so I’m planning to avoid that for now until we get more clarification later. I’ll be at the CIN/ATL game tonight, so the rules say I am supposed to stack those Braves!

Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
This is a pretty good group of pitchers, though nothing looks quite as can’t-miss as what we had last night.
A SOLID TOP TIER
- Bryan Woo at Athletics – 25.9% K, 4.8% BB, 2.58 ERA, 3.30 SIERA
- Sonny Gray vs. Pirates – 24.2% K, 6.2% BB, 4.12 ERA, 3.58 SIERA
- Framber Valdez at Brewers – 21.6% K, 8.8% BB, 4.39 ERA, 3.86 SIERA
- Robbie Ray at Cubs – 25.9% K, 13.3% BB, 3.05 ERA, 4.23 SIERA
- Kodai Senga at Diamondbacks – 23.8% K, 9.2% BB, 1.38 ERA, 3.90 SIERA
- Ben Brown vs. Giants – 23.8% K, 9.5% BB, 4.88 ERA, 3.83 SIERA
A quick glance at the 2025 numbers shows all of these guys in a similar strikeout range but with Bryan Woo and Sonny Gray having the much better control. I would also say that Gray has the best matchup of this group, so even though he has been just okay in his last few starts, I’m going to call him the SP1. Those last few starts have been in tougher matchups, and he’s not even the most expensive pitcher on the slate.
Bryan Woo has been even better than Gray, with 5 quality starts in 6 games, including 7+ strikeouts in 3 of his last 4 games. The matchup is enough tougher for Woo to leave him behind Gray, but I still trust this skill set enough to call him the SP2.
Things get very dicey after that. We have the always unpredictable Robbie Ray against the Cubs, Kodai Senga in a very tough matchup, and then Framber Valdez, who just doesn’t look quite like himself. This all makes me think that maybe we should just save a little more salary if not going with Gray and Woo.
