MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Tuesday, August 12th
Opto% Stack
Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels (Victor Mederos)
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a great MLB DFS stack against Victor Mederos, backed by the best optimal stack rate and 3rd-best stack rating in projections. With an implied run total of 5.78 runs, they are in line for a potentially explosive performance.
Mederos, making his first career start due to roster needs after Tyler Anderson’s scratch, has not demonstrated readiness through his minor league numbers. As a below-average strikeout pitcher lacking effective batted ball skills, he enters this matchup at a disadvantage. His brief MLB bullpen tenure reflects a concerning 21% walk rate, further suggesting susceptibility to the Dodgers’ potent lineup.
Given the Angels’ inadequate bullpen support, the Dodgers are positioned to capitalize on Mederos’ weaknesses. Prioritizing the top seven hitters as primary options that you can mix and match makes sense. Consideration of potential bullpen matchups with left-handed relievers suggests caution with any lower-priced lefties in the lineup.

Opto% Stack
New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins (Thomas Hatch)
The New York Yankees present an excellent MLB DFS stack opportunity against Thomas Hatch, highlighted by the 2nd-best optimal stack rate and 4th-best stack rating according to projections. With an implied run total of 5.59 runs, the Yankees are positioned for a solid offensive performance.
Hatch, who offers a modest 20% strikeout rate and has shown power vulnerability with a 2.08 HR/9 to lefties, is not likely to contain the Yankees’ potent lineup. Despite his ground-ball tendency, Hatch’s skills appear insufficient to manage the Yankees’ power hitters effectively.
Given Hatch’s background and the composition of the right-handed Twins bullpen, prioritizing left-handed Yankees like Jazz Chisholm, Ben Rice, and Cody Bellinger maximizes matchup potential. Aaron Judge remains a premium option, although budget considerations might necessitate lineup adjustments.
The Yankees’ depth and power potential make them an enticing DFS stack.
