Pitcher Grind Down
- Kris Johnson – While I think Johnson will fare better than Colby Lewis did last night, the matchup is pretty similar in terms of potential for getting rocked. He has to face the Rockies in the hitter’s paradise that is Coors Field. Rating = 1
Salaries: $5000 FD, $10345 DS, $8150 DD, $5600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Jorge De La Rosa – De La Rosa seems to defy all odds. Over the last two seasons, he’s pitched much better in Coors than he has on the road. In fact, his numbers at home are actually pretty respectable: 3.73 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and 35 K’s over 50 innings of work. All that said, he will not find his way into any of my lineups tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6300 FD, $10397 DS, $11150 DD, $5500 DK, $68600 FF, $15100 SS, $11150 FTD

Brian Dozier – I love the matchup for Dozier tonight. De La Rosa has given up a .350 wOBA to RH hitters since the start of 2013 and Dozier has great power vs. RH pitching. Plus, the Coors Field factor never hurts.
Additional Plays: Josh Willingham, Kendrys Morales, Kurt Suzuki
Colorado
Troy Tulowitzk – To quote the great Dan Back, “If you are not playing this guy in your H2H matchups, you are just going to lose.” Tulo at home against a lefty is a no-brainer. Don’t be cheap, pay up for Tulo tonight and thank me later.
Additional Plays: Drew Stubbs, Wilin Rosario, Justin Morneau, Charlie Blackmon

- Jeff Samardzija – The A’s are looking like the odds on favorite to win the American League after acquiring Samardzija and Hammel. Samardzija has to be loving life as he is finally on a team that will provide him with some run support. Tonight’s matchup against the Mariners should be a pitcher’s duel and you shouldn’t fade Samardzija just because King Felix is pitching opposite him. He’s got the better offense at his back and still has a nice matchup against the M’s who are ranked 19th against RH pitching this season. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8100 FD, $17755 DS, $16200 DD, $8200 DK, $83800 FF, $24900 SS, $16200 FTD
- Felix Hernandez – King Felix may be having the best season of his career, which is really says something considering the career that he has had. Through 19 starts, he’s posted a 2.11 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP and a K/9 of 9.6. Good pitching beats good hitting and with the total set at 6.0 runs, both pitchers are in play. Rating = 9
Salaries: $11300 FD, $25356 DS, $22600 DD, $12800 DK, $153400 FF, $33000 SS, $22600 FTD

This one is pretty obvious: avoid both offenses in this game.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jesse Hahn – The rookie Hahn has exceeded all expectations this season. In his first 6 career starts, he’s posted a 2.34 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP and a K/9 of 10.8. Obviously, the sample size is still small, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from the rookie. He’ll likely fly under the radar tonight thanks to the fact that he plays on the Padres, but he certainly carries value as a GPP play. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6700 FD, $17689 DS, $15550 DD, $8800 DK, $110300 FF, $26800 SS, $15550 FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren has pitched well at home this season with a 2.96 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. He also draws the best matchup on the board as he is facing the Padres who own the worst offense in baseball. I expect a nice bounce-back effort from Haren after giving up 8 earned runs in his last outing. Rating = 8
Salaries: $7200 FD, $15821 DS, $13500 DD, $6700 DK, $72200 FF, $19400 SS, $13500 FTD

San Diego
Once again, I’ll be avoiding all Padres’ hitters.
LA Dodgers
With some of the high run totals on the board tonight, you don’t need to waste your roster spots on any hitters from this game.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mike Bolsinger – Bolsinger has not pitched well this season. He owns a 5.17 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP. He does have a decent strikeout rate, but that’s not enough to make up for the runs that he’s likely going to give up to the Giants’ offense tonight. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5100 FD, $9115 DS, $9650 DD, $6000 DK, $54300 FF, $13200 SS, $9650 FTD
- Tim Lincecum – Lincecum is having a resurgent season, but unfortunately his price is starting to reflect that. In his last 3 starts, he’s struck out 18 batters while only giving up 1 earned run. If he can pitch around Goldschmidt, he could be in for another solid outing tonight. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8100 FD, $20036 DS, $16600 DD, $8900 DK, $109100 FF, $25300 SS, $16600 FTD

Arizona
Paul Goldschmdit – I’m not the biggest believer in BvP, but sometimes you see a stat that you just can’t ignore. Goldy is 15/26 with 7 HR’s off of Lincecum in his career. And no, the 7 HR’s is not a misprint.
Additional Plays: None
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – The panda is in a good spot tonight against Bolsinger who has given up a .375 wOBA to LH hitters this season. Pablo has been much better against RH pitching than LH pitching and he has a favorable price tag on most sites.
Additional Plays: Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, Hunter Pence
