Pitcher Grind Down
David Phelps – Phelps will draw the start for the suspended Pineda. He was scheduled to start last week, but the game got rained out so he will be making his first start of the season. Phelps has always been effective out of the bullpen, but has struggled as a starter over the last two seasons. He likely won’t pitch too deep into this game and should be avoided against the potent Angels offense. Rating = 3
Jered Weaver – In his first 6 starts this season, Weaver has a 4.00 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and 28 K’s over 36 innings of work. He is not the same pitcher that he used to be, but he is still a quality big league starter. He should get plenty of run support tonight, but will likely give up a few himself. He’s an average fantasy option tonight. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
N.Y. Yankees
Jacoby Ellsbury – Ellsbury is batting .333 on the season with 13 XBH’s and 10 stolen bases. He is an on-base machine and once he does reach base, he is always aggressive trying to score runs. He makes a solid cash game play tonight.
Additional Plays: Mark Teixeira, Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano
L.A. Angels
Albert Pujols – Pujols is off to a terrific start this season and the Angels’ front office members have to be breathing a sigh of relief after the 10 year deal they gave him. Pujols has hit 10 HR’s this season and has a nice matchup against Phelps who gave up a .336 wOBA to both LH and RH batters last season.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout, Erick Aybar

Pitcher Grind Down
Chris Young – Young has a 3.04 ERA this season with a 1.38 WHIP. He doesn’t have a ton of upside though as he is averaging less than 5 IP’s per outing and he has only struck out a total of 13 batters. A pitcher with low upside against an offense like the A’s does not warrant roster consideration tonight. Rating = 3
Scott Kazmir – It’s a roller coaster every time Kazmir takes the mound. He has one of the highest K-rates in baseball, but always seems to find trouble and seems to be faced with a bases loaded situation in every start. He pitched well against the Mariners earlier in the season throwing 6 scoreless innings while striking out 9 batters. He makes a nice upside play tonight. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
Seattle
There aren’t any recommended plays on the Mariners tonight.
Oakland
Coco Crisp – Crisp has good power and great speed. He is batting .313 at home this season and his recent slump has lowered his price across the industry. Crisp should be targeted in all leagues tonight.
Additional Plays: Brandon Moss

Pitcher Grind Down
Yordano Ventura – Through 5 starts this season, Ventura has a 1.51 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP. He is one of the best young pitchers in baseball and I can’t wait to see what he can do tonight against the weak Padres’ offense in the very pitcher-friendly Petco Park. Dollar for dollar, Ventura is one of my favorite starting pitchers tonight. Rating = 9
Eric Stults – Stults has had his struggles on the road, but has an ERA just over 3.00 in his last 17 starts in Petco. The Royals are a team that likes to work the counts and put the ball in play. They strike out as little as any team in baseball which really hurts the opposing pitcher’s fantasy value. Stults is an average fantasy option tonight. Rating = 5

Kansas City
Billy Butler – Butler has 12 hits over his last 9 games and has always hit LH pitching well in his career. His price is still dirt cheap across the industry and I think he makes a nice cash game play tonight.
Additional Plays: Salvador Perez
San Diego
This Padres offense leaves much to be desired and they have a bad matchup against Ventura. I’ll be avoiding the Padres’ batters once again.
