Pitcher Grind Down
- J.A. Happ – Happ has been a very hit or miss pitcher this year. He carries a 4.55 ERA into this matchup against the Yankees, but has shut down some good offenses at times this year. His 1.55 WHIP and high ERA should make him an avoid, especially in a game where he is a heavy underdog with a 9 total. Happ’s 7.37 K/9 does not add any fantasy value, making him an avoid today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6300 FD, $NA DS, $10800 DD, $6000 DK, $69000 FF, $16500 SS, $10800 FTD
- Shane Greene – Greene has made 3 starts so far for the Yankees and has a 2.79 ERA and sub 1.00 WHIP. He will look to continue this against the Blue Jays and their number 1 offense against RH pitching in the league (.344 wOBA). The opponent really takes away some value, but due to his price, he could make a long shot GPP option today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5900 FD, $ DS, $8800 DD, $7000 DK, $81400 FF, $18500 SS, $ FTD

Toronto
Jose Bautista – I will be giving a long look at Bautista today as he is the hottest hitter on this Jays team right now. In his last 6 games, he has 9 hits, 6 extra base hits including 3 home runs.
Additional Plays: Dan Johnson Jose Reyes Melky Cabrera
NY Yankees
Carlos Beltran – Beltran has a good history against Happ (7/20 with 3 home runs) and is coming off 2 straight games going yard. He makes a good cheap option today.
Additional Plays: Jacoby Ellsbury Derek Jeter

Pitcher Grind Down
- Doug Fister – Fister brings his 2.92 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into a great matchup with the struggling Reds offense. Fister should be licking his chops today as the Reds have yet to score more than 3 runs since the All-Star break and have scored a combined 3 runs in their last 3 games. Look for Fister to make a very good mid-tier option today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8000 FD, $NA DS, $15600 DD, $7500 DK, $92000 FF, $22000 SS, $15600 FTD
- Mat Latos – Latos has now made 7 starts since coming off the DL and has a 3.15 ERA. He has struggled a bit in his last 2 starts allowing 7 earned runs combined, but what is more of a surprise is the lack of strikeouts he is able to produce (5.1 K/9). This really depresses his fantasy value today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7700 FD, $ DS, $14300 DD, $8800 DK, $90400 FF, $24600 SS, $14300 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Washington
Adam LaRoche – Hitting in the cleanup spot, LaRoche has a wOBA of .385 against RH pitching this year. He makes for the best bet on this Nationals squad today.
Additional Plays: Bryce Harper
Cincinnati
I will be avoiding the struggling Reds bats today because of matchup and recent performance.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Vidal Nuno – After making a great first start with the Diamondbacks, Nuno showed us the Nuno of old in his last two. He gave up 3 home runs and 7 total runs against the Tigers and Giants combined. Today, he does get a decent matchup with the lefty heavy Phillies who are 23rd in the league in team wOBA against LH pitching. Regardless of matchup, Nuno is an avoid today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5500 FD, $NA DS, $11400 DD, $5500 DK, $52800 FF, $13200 SS, $11400 FTD
- Roberto Hernandez – Roberto has not had a very good year and has a 4.25 ERA and 1.44 WHIP to show for it. He also sports a very low 6.03 K/9, giving him very little fantasy value today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5200 FD, $ DS, $9950 DD, $5800 DK, $58600 FF, $13000 SS, $9950 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Aaron Hill – There are not a whole lot of righty smashers on the Diamondbacks, but Hill makes a good play as he is swinging a very hot bat right now. In his last 10 games, he has 6 doubles and 2 home runs while hitting over .400. He is a good cheap option today.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt Martin Prado
Philadelphia
Marlon Byrd – Nuno is allowing righties a wOBA of .369 against him on the season. Combine that with the fact that Byrd has hit lefties well all year (.292 AVG, 542 SLG) and we have a great play today.
Additional Plays: Jimmy Rollins Carlos Ruiz

Pitcher Grind Down
- Allen Webster – With Peavy being traded, Webster steps up into a starting role today. He has yet to make an appearance this year, but in 2013 he made 7 starts and allowed 29 earned runs in 30 innings for an 8.60 ERA. He has been pretty solid in the minors this year (3.04 ERA), but he is safe to avoid today until we see what he can do on the big stage. Rating = 3
Salaries: $ FD, $NA DS, $NA DD, $NA DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Chris Archer – Archer has been a very good starter for the Rays this year. He has a 3.31 ERA and a 6-5 record. He sports a decent 7.90 K/9 as well. He has yet to face this Boston offense this year, but struggled in 2 starts last year (5.19 ERA). I think he is a bit to expensive today against a Red Sox offense that is finding its stride at the moment. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8100 FD, $ DS, $14800 DD, $8200 DK, $93900 FF, $ SS, $14800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Boston
David Ortiz – Big Papi is 4/9 with 5 RBIs against the young righty and will be looking to add to his totals today. Ortiz has 3 home runs in his last 6 games.
Additional Plays: Shane Victorino Brock Holt Dustin Pedroia
Tampa Bay
Matt Joyce – We all know the drill, Rays are facing a subpar righty and Joyce will get bounced up to the 3 spot to face him. He has come through recently with at least 1 hit in his last 8 games. He makes a great cheap OF option today.
Additional Plays: Ben Zobrist Desmond Jennings Evan Longoria Kevin Kiermaier

Pitcher Grind Down
- Scott Carroll – Caroll has been a pitcher that has been so tough to get a read on so far this year. I think he is going to get rocked every game, but will at times go out and throw a great performance. In his last 5 starts, he has had 2 shut out performances, and gave up 15 earned runs in the other 3 combined. Regardless, he does not go deep into games nor does he strikeout enough batters to be fantasy relevant. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5400 FD, $NA DS, $10550 DD, $5800 DK, $55500 FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Yohan Pino – Pino will be making his 7th start of the season. His first career start came against these White Sox where he went 7 innings, gave up 2 runs and struck out 7. He has an overall 4.64 ERA on the year with a 1.30 WHIP. Pino is a small favorite in this game with a high over under. Due to his low price, he could make a decent GPP option, but that is all. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5400 FD, $ DS, $10550 DD, $5900 DK, $63700 FF, $14200 SS, $10550 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Adam Eaton – It is a small sample size, but Pino is giving up a a wOBA of .379 to left handed batters. Eaton is always one of my favorite cash game plays in a spot like this because he is cheap and very consistent.
Additional Plays: Jose Abreu Conor Gillaspie Alejandro De Aza
Minnesota
Danny Santana – I am hoping Santana continues to lead off today as he has been solid since returning from injury. He has a wOBA of .339 against righties and is producing a lot for his price tag at the moment.
Additional Plays: Oswaldo Arcia Eduardo Nunez Josh Willingham
