Pitcher Grind Down
- Gio Gonzalez – Gonzalez got off to a nice start against the Astros in his first game back from the DL, but ended up giving up 4 earned runs while striking out 6 batters in 5 innings of work. The Nationals let Gio throw 93 pitches in that game and will likely stretch him out a bit more tonight against the Brewers. That said, I don’t love the matchup as the Brewers’ lineup is littered with quality RHB’s. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8200 FD, $15464 DS, $14950 DD, $10200 DK, $62100 FF, $24200 SS, $14950 FTD
- Matt Garza – Garza has been good in his last 5 starts, but has inexplicably only struck out a combined 6 batters in his last 3. When you target Garza, you are expecting a pitcher with high K-potential, but he has only struck out more than 5 batters in 3 of his last 10 starts. The Nationals are below average against RH pitching this season, but I’m going to avoid Garza tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6900 FD, $14182 DS, $14050 DD, $7900 DK, $92300 FF, $21700 SS, $14050 FTD

Additional Plays: Ryan Zimmerman, Jayson Werth
Milwaukee
Ryan Braun – Braun’s numbers against LH pitching are down this season, but has a career .340 batting average against southpaws. I think most people will be avoiding him tonight because he is facing Gio which makes him an excellent tournament play.
Additional Plays: Jonathan Lucroy, Khris Davis, Aramis Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Zack Greinke – Greinke is having another terrific season. He is sporting a 2.57 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and a K/9 of 9.6. He has a nice matchup against the Royals who are ranked 18th against RH pitching this season. The only downside in this matchup is that the Royals strike out fewer times than any team in baseball. He may have a few less strikeouts tonight, but is still a nice fantasy option. Rating = 8
Salaries: $9700 FD, $18678 DS, $18000 DD, $11300 DK, $105100 FF, $27700 SS, $18000 FTD
- Jeremy Guthrie – Guthrie’s last two starts have been a bit of an aberration. His season high in strikeouts was 5 before those two outings and then he comes out and strikes out 9 batters against the White Sox and then he backed it up by striking out 9 batters against the Tigers. You have to trust the numbers over the long-term here, but I suppose he could make a deep tournament play. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6000 FD, $11897 DS, $11050 DD, $7300 DK, $85800 FF, $19100 SS, $11050 FTD

LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Guthrie has been susceptible to LHB’s throughout his career. This season he is giving up a .336 wOBA to batters from the left side of the plate. A-Gon’s price has come down across the industry which makes him an even more appealing play tonight.
Additional Plays: Dee Gordon, Andre Ethier
Kansas City
I typically like to avoid all hitters against the best pitchers in baseball. There aren’t any options that stand out here against Greinke.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Lance Lynn – Instead of quoting his stats from this season, I’ll save you some time by just telling you to avoid him tonight. He has to face the Rockies in Coors Field in a game that features a run total of 10.5. Rating = 2
Salaries: $7600 FD, $14354 DS, $14550 DD, $8500 DK, $92300 FF, $22700 SS, $15150 FTD
- Jhoulys Chacin – There aren’t many strict rules in daily fantasy baseball, but taking a pitcher in Coors Field is one that I never break. The 10.5 run total is more than enough for me to avoid Chacin tonight. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5600 FD, $10352 DS, $9500 DD, $6600 DK, $70600 FF, $14600 SS, $9500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Ladies and gentlemen, start your stack engines. The Cardinals are extremely cheap on basically every site in the industry and they draw a terrific matchup against Chacin in Coors. Don’t be afraid to load up on Cardinals in both cash games and GPP’s.
Additional Plays: Allen Craig, Matt Holliday, Matt Carpenter, Yadier Molina, Jhonny Peralta
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – As always, there are going to be a ton of viable fantasy options in Coors. My favorite Rockies’ bat tonight is Dickerson. He has a .479 wOBA against RH pitching this season and should be batting in the heart of the order again tonight.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon, Justin Morneau, Troy Tulowitzki, Wilin Rosario

Pitcher Grind Down
- John Lackey – Lackey has really pitched well this season. He has a 2.96 ERA with a 1.15 and a K/9 of 7.8. He also has a nice matchup against the Mariners who are ranked 23rd against RH pitching this season (.303 wOBA). The downside is that King Felix will be pitching opposite him. Even if Lackey pitches well, he could get stuck with the loss. For that reason, I will only be targeting him as a GPP play. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8700 FD, $17424 DS, $15800 DD, $9400 DK, $108500 FF, $26200 SS, $15800 FTD
- Felix Hernandez – King Felix has been absolutely terrific in his last 6 starts. During that stretch, he has struck out 47 batters while only giving up a combined 6 earned runs. He should be considered the top overall pitcher on the board tonight if you can manage to fit him in your lineups. Rating = 10
Salaries: $11200 FD, $23956 DS, $21500 DD, $12500 DK, $138600 FF, $33000 SS, $21500 FTD

Boston
The Red Sox are an easy team to avoid tonight. King Felix has been dominant in his last 6 starts and should be in for another nice outing tonight.
Seattle
This game has the lowest total of the night. The run total is only set at 6.5 and there aren’t any Mariners’ batters that look like must plays against Lackey.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Odrisamer Despaigne – Andrew Cashner was supposed to get the start tonight, but was scratched due to shoulder stiffness. Despaigne will get the start instead. He’s not available on most fantasy sites, so he can easily be avoided tonight.
- Matt Cain – In 3 starts since coming back from the DL, Cain has given up 13 earned runs while only striking out 10 batters. That’s not what you like to see from your starting pitcher. That said, he has a terrific matchup tonight against the Padres who are ranked dead last against RH pitching. If there was ever a matchup for him to bounce back, this would be it. Rating = 7
Salaries: $6700 FD, $15455 DS, $13400 DD, $7400 DK, $59000 FF, $20200 SS, $13400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
Seth Smith – Smith has shown great power against RH pitching this season with a .408 wOBA. He is cheap and offers a nice value play in the OF if you aren’t sold on Cain tonight.
Additional Plays: None
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – Sandoval has a .350 wOBA against RH pitching this season and an excellent matchup against the rookie RHP Despaigne who has struggled in his minor league starts.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence, Buster Posey
