Pitcher Grind Down

Tom Koehler : FD: $7,000 — DK: $7,400

Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 295.1 — SIERA: 4.24 — ERA: 3.66 — K%: 18.2% — BB%: 8.6% — HR/9: 0.9
Last 30 Days: IP: 25.0 — SIERA: 4.07 — ERA: 2.16 — K%: 14.0% — BB%: 5.0% — HR/9: 0.7

San Diego Padres Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.291 (Rank: 27) — Strikeout Rate: 22.0% (Rank: 26)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.307 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 19)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 13)

Analysis: Koehler is a pitcher that is usually easy to avoid, but he deserves a look tonight. He draws a terrific matchup against the Padres and he gets to face them in Petco Park. San Diego has the fifth-highest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. I wish Koehler was a bit cheaper so that we could target him as an SP2, but at his price point, he is best suited as a tournament play.

Pitcher Rating:50.8

Tyson Ross : FD: $8,500 — DK: $9,100

Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 312.2 — SIERA: 3.27 — ERA: 3.02 — K%: 24.4% — BB%: 9.9% — HR/9: 0.5
Last 30 Days: IP: 36.1 — SIERA: 3.26 — ERA: 2.23 — K%: 25.2% — BB%: 10.8% — HR/9: 0.0

Miami Marlins Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.292 (Rank: 26) — Strikeout Rate: 20.1% (Rank: 18)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 16.0% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.70 (Rank: 28)

Analysis: Ross is a terrific value tonight on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He has terrific numbers at Petco Park throughout his career and he has been pitching well recently. Over the last month of play, he has a 3.26 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.2%. He also draws a prime matchup against the Marlins, who are ranked 26th in wOBA and 28th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. He’s a strong tournament play and he makes sense as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

Pitcher Rating:84.9

Batter Grind Down

Miami

The Marlins are short-handed right now and they are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball against right-handed pitching. They should be avoided tonight against Tyson Ross in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

San Diego

The Padres are an easy team to avoid once again, as they draw a mediocre matchup against Tom Koehler at home. Matt Kemp has been on fire recently though, so he may be worth a look in tournaments.
