Pitcher Grind Down
Homer Bailey – Bailey has given up at least 3 earned runs in every start this season except for one. He has a 5.50 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP. Tonight he faces a very tough Red Sox lineup in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. I will be avoiding Bailey tonight in all leagues as there is more downside than upside with him tonight. Rating = 3
Felix Doubront – Doubront has a decent K/9 of 7.5 since the start of last season, but he also has an ERA of 5.70. Doubront always gives the Red Sox a chance to win, but he always gives up a few runs and faces a tough Reds’ lineup tonight. I’ll be targeting pitchers with better matchups instead of Doubront. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Todd Frazier – Doubront is giving up a .338 wOBA to RH batters this season and Frazier has nice power against LH pitching. This season he is batting .294 with an OPS of 1.01 against LH pitching.
Additional Plays: Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto
Boston
David Ortiz – Ortiz is only batting .214 against RH pitching this season, but that number will certainly go up as the season progresses. Ortiz still has great power in his bat as evidenced by his 6 HR’s this season. He has a nice matchup against Bailey who is giving up a .353 wOBA to LH batters this season.
Additional Plays: Grady Sizemore, A.J. Pierzynski

Pitcher Grind Down
Tyler Lyons – Lyons has made 2 starts this season and has made 2 appearances out of the bullpen. He has a 4.20 ERA with 14 K’s over 15 innings of work. Tonight he faces a Braves’ offense that has a .343 wOBA against LH pitching this season which is the 6th best in baseball. I’m not crazy about the young southpaw tonight. Rating = 4
Gavin Floyd – Floyd will be making his first start of the season, but he has made 6 rehab starts already this year. Over the last 3 seasons, Floyd has posted a 4.38 ERA with a K/9 of 7.4. Even though this Cardinals offense has been in a month-long slump, I will not be targeting Floyd tonight. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
Matt Carpenter – Over the last 3 seasons, Floyd has given up a .281 batting average and an OPS of .819 to LH batters. Carpenter’s price is depressed across the industry and he does have 6 hits over his last 5 games.
Additional Plays: Matt Adams, Jhonny Peralta
Atlanta
Justin Upton – Lyons is giving up a .324 wOBA to RH batters this season and Upton has great power against LH pitching. Upton is one of the few players available that has multi-HR type of upside.
Additional Plays: Evan Gattis, Chris Johnson

Pitcher Grind Down
Chris Tillman – Through 6 starts this season Tillman has a 3.68 ERA with a K/9 over 9.0. He has been a very productive pitcher in daily fantasy baseball, but he is never a highly owned pitcher because he pitches in the very tough AL East. Tonight he faces the Rays in Tampa in a game that features a total of only 7.5 runs. His high K-rate puts him in play in tournaments. Rating = 6
Chris Archer – The splits are in Archer’s favor tonight. Archer is at his best at home in Tropicana Field against teams that don’t have many talented LH batters. With Chris Davis on the shelf, the Orioles fit that mold perfectly. Archer has a 2.13 ERA at home this season and has held RH batters to a .251 wOBA. His price is affordable and he gets the nod as one of my favorite cash game plays tonight. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
Nick Markakis – If you are targeting any Orioles batter tonight (wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t), target the LH batters as Archer has been dominant against batters from the right side of the plate. Markakis has 15 hits over his last 10 games and makes a decent play in the OF.
Additional Plays: Matt Wieters
Tampa Bay
Evan Longoria – I may need to get my temperature checked because this will be the 3rd time today that I am quoting BvP stats. Longo is 10/24 with 4 HR’s off of Tillman in his career which equates to an OPS of 1.48.
Additional Plays: Matt Joyce, James Loney
NY Mets at Miami

Pitcher Grind Down
Bartolo Colon – Colon has 29 K’s over 35 innings of work this season which is nice, but he is also sporting a 5.65 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. Tonight he faces a Marlins lineup that has been very good against RH pitching this season. The Marlins have a .343 wOBA against RH pitching which is the 2nd best in baseball. Colon could carry some value as a deep GPP play, but I’ll likely be avoiding him altogether. Rating = 5
Henderson Alvarez – In 6 starts this season Alvarez has a 3.28 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP. His K/9 is pretty low though as he has only struck out 22 batters over 35 innings of work. This is not a great matchup for Alvarez as he really struggles against LH batters and the Mets have quite a few powerful lefties in their lineup. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
N.Y. Mets
Curtis Granderson – The Grandy Man has finally started to hit. In his last 6 games, he has 9 hits (including 2 HR’s) and 2 walks. He’s also only struck out 4 times during that stretch which is a big improvement from earlier in the season.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy
Miami
Garrett Jones – Colon is giving up a .961 OPS to LH batters this season and Jones makes a very sneaky play tonight. He has 12 hits (5 for extra bases) in his last 8 games and is dirt cheap across the industry.
Additional Plays: Giancarlo Stanton
Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs

Pitcher Grind Down
Hector Noesi – Noesi has made 7 appearances this season and he is sporting a hefty 11.12 ERA. That’s a red flag for me and I will not be targeting him tonight even against a weak Cubbies’ offense. Rating = 3
Edwin Jackson – Jackson is similar to Doubront in that he always lasts at least 5 innings and he always gives his team a chance to win. The problem is that he gives up too many runs. He has a 5.24 ERA this season with a 1.58 WHIP. He is a below average option tonight against the White Sox. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – Abreu is batting .277 with a .961 OPS against RH pitching this season. He has a favorable matchup against Edwin Jackson and could easily hit his 13th HR of the season tonight.
Additional Plays: Alejandro De Aza, Alexei Ramirez
Chicago Cubs
Anthony Rizzo – I love Rizzo tonight against Noesi who is giving up a .404 wOBA to LH batters this season. Rizzo has nice power against RH pitching and may actually get up to bat with a few RBI opportunities.
Additional Plays: Nate Schierholtz, Starlin Castro
