Pitcher Grind Down
Josh Collmenter – Collmenter has made 4 starts this season and has a 3.77 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. Collmenter has 21 K’s over 31 innings of work, but has given up at least 3 earned runs in 3 of his last 4 starts. The Brewers are pretty average against RH pitching this season, but I don’t love the matchup for him in Miller Park. Rating = 4
Marco Estrada – Through 6 starts this season, Estrada has a 3.13 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.3. He is a big favorite tonight against the D-Backs who are surprisingly 20th in the league against RH pitching. I don’t think Estrada will be on many people’s radar tonight, but his high K-rate and good chance to pick up a win make him a great tournament play. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – I won’t be using many D-Backs’ batters tonight, but I will certainly have some exposure to Goldschmidt in GPP’s. He’s one of the most powerful batters in baseball and Miller Park is a very HR-friendly ballpark.
Additional Plays: None
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – Gomez is batting .308 with an OPS of .943 against RH pitching this season. He has great power and will give you the added bonus of a stolen base every now and then. I like the matchup against the RH Collmenter.
Additional Plays: Scooter Gennett

Pitcher Grind Down
Robbie Ross – Ross is coming off of his worst start of the season and now has to face the Rockies in Coors Field. Not only does Coors Field give up the most runs of any ballpark, but the Rockies are ranked 2nd in the majors against LH pitching with a .379 wOBA. Rating = 2
Juan Nicasio – Nicasio has a 4.19 ERA that is likely going to go up after his start tonight against the Rangers. Teams tend to have better success offensively in the 2nd game against the Rockies in Coors and I expect that to be the case tonight. Avoid Nicasio here. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
Texas
Alex Rios – The total of this game is set at 10.5 runs and Nicasio has given up a .347+ wOBA to both LH and RH batters this season. All batters on the Rangers are in play tonight, but I really like Rios who is batting .317 with 2 HR’s and 5 SB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Prince Fielder, Shin-Soo Choo, Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus, Mitch Moreland
Colorado
Troy Tulowitzki – As mentioned in yesterday’s Grind Down, Tulo is putting up video-game type numbers at home this season and added to it with 2 HR’s last night. Tulo is not batting .596 with a 1.77 OPS at home this season. Tonight is not the night to start fading him.
Additional Plays: Carlos Gonzalez, Brandon Barnes, Nolan Arenado, Drew Stubbs

Pitcher Grind Down
Hiroki Kuroda – Kuorda has not looked great this season. He has a 5.13 ERA and has now given up at least 2 earned runs in each of his last 11 starts dating back to last season. The Angels are one of the teams that roughed him up this season and it is safe to avoid Kuroda against them this time around as well. Rating = 4
C.J. Wilson – Wilson has really pitched well for the Angels this season and my favorite stat is that he is averaging around 110 pitches per game. With such a long leash, he is able to pitch deep into games. Wilson has a 3.19 ERA on the season with a K/9 of 9.4. While the Yankees are ranked 7th against LH pitching this season, I think Wilson pitches well and picks up a win. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
N.Y. Yankees
Alfonso Soriano – Soriano has an OPS over .900 against LH pitching over the last 3 seasons and has decent numbers off of Wilson in his career. Soriano is always priced fairly and makes a nice mid-range option in the OF.
Additional Plays: Carlos Beltran
L.A. Angels
Albert Pujols – Pujols is batting .296 this season with 10 HR’s. He also has 8 hits in his last 6 games. Pujols is locked in right now and should have another nice outing tonight against Kuroda.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout, Howie Kendrick

Pitcher Grind Down
Roenis Elias – Elias gave up a leadoff HR to Ellsbury in his last start, but quickly regrouped and threw a gem against the Yankees. He struck out 10 batters over 7 innings of work. Elias has a 3.09 ERA on the season with 31 K’s over 35 innings of work. He comes into this game as a big underdog, but I don’t mind him as a GPP play. Rating = 5
Jesse Chavez – Chavez was roughed up against the Astros, but bounced back in a big way by throwing 7 scoreless innings against the Rangers in Texas. Chavez has a 1.89 ERA on the season with a K/9 of 9.7. Even though the Mariners’ lineup is littered with LH batters, they are ranked 26th in baseball against RH pitching this season. Chavez makes a terrific upside play tonight. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
Seattle
With quite a few favorable matchups on the schedule, I will not be targeting any M’s batters tonight against the red hot Chavez.
Oakland
Coco Crisp – Elias is giving up a .337 wOBA to RH batters and Crisp’s price is very affordable right now. He has good speed and a decent amount of power in his bat. I like him as a value play tonight against Elias.
Additional Plays: Josh Donaldson, Yoenis Cespedes

Pitcher Grind Down
Jeremy Guthrie – Guthrie is typically not a recommended fantasy option because he has a low K-rate and an above average ERA. That all changes tonight in Petco Park though. Petco surrendered the fewest runs of any ballpark in baseball and the Padres are ranked dead last against RH pitching this season. If the price is cheap enough, he makes a nice play in both cash games and GPP’s. Rating = 7
Robbie Erlin – Erlin has a 5.83 ERA this season with a 1.41 WHIP. The Royals are not a team that I like to target pitchers against and the reasoning is fairly simple. They work the count which increases the opposing pitchers count and they strike out the 2nd fewest amount of times in baseball. Even in Petco, I will not be targeting Erlin tonight against the Royals.
Batter Grind Down
Kansas City
Salvador Perez – Perez hasn’t been great against LH pitching this season, but the sample size is small. Last season he hit for a .317 average against southpaws. He is a nice punt play at Catcher tonight.
Additional Plays: Billy Butler
San Diego
There aren’t any plays that really stand out to me here, but Guthrie has given up a .390 wOBA to LH batters this season so you could find some nice punt options here.
Additional Plays: Everth Cabrera, Seth Smith, Yasmani Grandal
