Pitcher Grind Down
- Bartolo Colon – Colon has really turned his season around. In his last 3 starts he has a 2.25 ERA with 16 K’s over 20 innings of work. He has a pretty decent matchup against the Cardinals who are below average against RH pitching this season. The issue with Colon is that he rarely gets run support. He’ll have a tough time picking up the win with Lynn pitching opposite him. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7700 FD, $14816 DS, $14700 DD, $7500 DK, $101600 FF, $21400 SS, $14700 FTD
- Lance Lynn – Lynn is having a nice season. He is sporting a 3.16 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.2. He has a terrific matchup against the Mets who are ranked 28th against RH pitching with a team .289 wOBA. Factoring in price, he’s one of the best SP options on the board today. Rating = 8
Salaries: $7700 FD, $16986 DS, $15200 DD, $8500 DK, $92000 FF, $23400 SS, $15200 FTD

NY Mets
There aren’t any plays that really stand out here. Lynn has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .315 wOBA this season and he has always pitched well at Busch Stadium. I’m targeting the Lynn side of this matchup.
St. Louis
Yadier Molina – Molina is in play today thanks to his extremely cheap price tag on both FD and DS. He’s been slumping of late, but he did homer in last night’s win and has great upside for the price.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tim Hudson – Hudson has been terrific this season with a 1.81 ERA, but his xFIP is at 3.20 which suggests he’s not pitching quite as well as his ERA indicates. Either way, he’s still having his best season over his last 3 years. I will not be targeting him tonight though as he faces a White Sox offense that is ranked 7th against RH pitching this season. The fact that Sale is pitching for the Giants doesn’t help either. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8100 FD, $15670 DS, $18500 DD, $9500 DK, $113900 FF, $27500 SS, $18500 FTD
- Chris Sale – When Sale is healthy, he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. Through 9 starts this season he owns a 1.97 ERA with an extremely impressive 0.68 WHIP. He also has a K/9 of 10.3. While the Giants have a few hitters that excel against LH pitching, as a team they are only ranked 13th against southpaws on the season. Sale has as much upside as any pitcher on the board. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10100 FD, $24824 DS, $22050 DD, $11900 DK, $122100 FF, $32300 SS, $21450 FTD

San Francisco
Even though guys like Buster Posey and Hunter Pence hit LH pitching well, this isn’t your average run of the mill lefty. Sale is one of the best pitchers in baseball and I’ll be avoiding all hitters against him.
Chicago White Sox
Adam Eaton – Eaton is a cheap OF option with multi-hit and multi-run upside. He has 15 hits in his last 10 games (5 multi-hit games during that stretch). Take him now before his price goes up.
Additional Plays: Adam Dunn (BvP: 11/34 with 4 HR’s off of Hudson)

Pitcher Grind Down
- Nick Tepesch – Tepesch has been very inconsistent this season. He is coming off of his best start of 2014, but I don’t like the matchup against the swinging A’s and the fact that he is giving up a .352 wOBA to LHB’s doesn’t help his cause. He’s an easy avoid in the early slate. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $9431 DS, $11150 DD, $5500 DK, $60200 FF, $13800 SS, $11150 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Gray has uncharacteristically struggled in his last 4 starts. He’s given up a combined 15 earned runs and has walked 9 batters. The strikeouts are still there though and he does draw a favorable matchup against the Rangers who are ranked 22nd against RH pitching this season. I always like buying low on stud players and that’s the case with Gray in this one. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8500 FD, $16809 DS, $15650 DD, $8400 DK, $93400 FF, $23600 SS, $15950 FTD

Texas
The Rangers have been red hot in this series, but I expect their bats to cool off today against Gray. I really think he pitches a gem here so I will not be targeting any batters against him.
Oakland
Brandon Moss – As mentioned above, Tepesch really struggles against LHB’s. This season he has given up a .352 wOBA to lefties and Moss should be able to capitalize on that. Don’t be afraid to get a few A’s in your lineups today.
Additional Plays: Yoenis Cespedes, John Jaso, Josh Donaldson

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mark Buehrle – Buerhle’s 2.28 ERA is very impressive, but he has a xFIP of 4.23 so I expect that ERA to come up as the season progresses. That could start tonight against the Yankees in the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. The total for this game is set at 9.0 runs which is more than enough for me to avoid both starters in this one. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8000 FD, $16443 DS, $15800 DD, $7400 DK, $93000 FF, $21400 SS, $15800 FTD
- Chase Whitley – Whitley is coming off of a terrific start against the Mariners. He has yet to give up more than 3 earned runs in any start this season. That said, he has a very tough test in front of him tonight as the Blue Jays are ranked 2nd against RH pitching this season. His price is cheap, but the bad matchup makes me want to avoid the rookie tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5000 FD, $11497 DS, $12600 DD, $6800 DK, $81900 FF, $18000 SS, $12600 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Toronto
Jose Reyes – Reyes homered off of Tanaka last night in the first at-bat of the game and then the Blue Jays failed to muster up anything else offensively after that. The sample size is small, but Whitley has given up a much higher wOBA to LHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Melky Cabrera, Adam Lind
NY Yankees
Mark Teixeira – Teix is riding a 6 game hitting streak in which he has reached base 9 times and has 6 RBI’s. He isn’t going to hit for a high average, but he still has nice pop in his bat and I like the matchup against Buehrle who has been pitching over his head.
Additional Plays: Alfonso Soriano

Pitcher Grind Down
- Scott Feldman – Feldman’s K/9 of 4.8 really hurts his fantasy value. Even when he pitches well his upside is pretty limited. Tonight he faces a Nationals’ offense that has really turned it on over the last 2 weeks. I’ll be avoiding Feldman in all leagues tonight. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5200 FD, $7988 DS, $9100 DD, $5500 DK, $53900 FF, $13600 SS, $8450 FTD
- Gio Gonzalez – Gio was activated off of the DL and will get the start tonight against the Astros. He’s missed the last month with a shoulder injury and you have to think that he will be on some kind of pitch limit while he eases back into action. He’s a big favorite here, but the Astros have actually hit LH pitching well this season. That mixed with his probable pitch limit makes him a pretty average play for a pitcher at his price point. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8400 FD, $17269 DS, $15550 DD, $ DK, $84000 FF, $25400 SS, $15550 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Houston
Jose Altuve – Altuve has been crushing LH pitching this season. He has a .423 wOBA against southpaws and is only striking out at a 7% clip which means he’s making great contact. Gonzalez could be a little rusty coming off of the DL and Altuve could make a sneaky play at 2B.
Additional Plays: George Springer
Washington
Ryan Zimmermann – Feldman is a RHP, but has given up a higher wOBA to RHB’s (.338) than he has to LHB’s (.310). Zimmerman has a .333 wOBA against RH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Adam LaRoche, Jayson Werth
