Dylan Cease OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-164, DraftKings)
DRAFTKINGSCease hasn’t finished 6 innings in either of his last 2 starts, but that has been related to his efficiency rather than workload. He’s still thrown 94 pitches in each of his last 2 outings, and he has worked as high as 111 pitches in the last month.
Toronto’s playoff hopes are hanging by a thread; they are likely to push Cease as long as they can this evening as they look to keep pace in the AL Wild Card race.
Tyler Mahle OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+108, Novig)
Contract-incentive betting isn’t as straightforward in the MLB as it is in the NFL, but it’s nonetheless worth noting that Mahle has a $1 million bonus in his contract if he gets to 150 innings this season. Tonight will likely be his penultimate start of the regular season; he is needing 12 innings across his last 2 outings to get to the milestone.
Mahle has been dominant in his last 7 starts, posting a 1.25 ERA, 3.03 FIP, and 0.92 WHIP. He should have every opportunity to get through 6 innings tonight against a weak-hitting Houston lineup.
Tyler Glasnow OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-143, DraftKings)
DRAFTKINGSGlasnow had command issues in his most recent outing against the Marlins, which knocked him out of the game after only recording 12 outs. However, prior to that, he had finished at least 6 innings in consecutive outings and looked like a true ace in the process.
The Dodgers still have a chance to earn the No. 1 seed in the NL playoff picture with a strong final week of the regular season. Expect manager Dave Roberts to give Glasnow every chance to get through 6 innings this evening.
