MLB Player Props Today
- Marco Gonzales u17.5 outs recorded
- Josh Lowe o0.5 total bases
- Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts
Marco Gonzales u17.5 outs recorded (-120), BetMGM
Entering play on Wednesday, Marco Gonzales has recorded 18 outs in back-to-back starts. However, bettors should not be fooled into thinking that trend will continue for much longer. Gonzales has benefited from a .263 BABIP in those two starts, despite allowing a 10.3% barrel rate and a 43.6% hard hit rate. The Boston Red Sox have not been elite against southpaws to begin 2023, but they still rank 16th in OPS and sixth in walk percentage – proving that they are not inept in these situations. The main risk factor here is that the temperature at first pitch is forecasted to be below 50 degrees, which certainly favors pitching. Still, this is worth a small stab from bettors this evening.
Josh Lowe o0.5 total bases (-150), BetMGM
Josh Lowe has been phenomenal against right-handed pitching this season, with a .297 batting average, .962 OPS, and a 166 wRC+. Tonight, he gets to face Kodai Senga, who owns an unimpressive 4.14 ERA, 4.53 xERA, and a 4.95 FIP through his first seven turns through the rotation for the New York Mets. Lowe has gone hitless in each of his last three games played, making him an excellent bounce-back candidate for Wednesday’s slate. Lowe sees off-speed pitches well, which should benefit him against Senga. The Mets’ bullpen has plenty of hittable arms as well, creating an opportunity for a base knock in the latter frames. Take the over here.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks
Each of the last two times Masataka Yoshida has taken the field, we have successfully targeted this look on PrizePicks. Frankly, if PrizePicks continues to offer this option for their users, it should be a daily systems play, regardless of the matchup. Yoshida is one of the most disciplined hitters in the league, with elite contact skills in addition to his discerning eye. Entering play on Wednesday, Yoshida has struck out in only 9.7% of his plate appearances this season. Tonight, he will face Marco Gonzales who owns an unimpressive 16.2% strikeout rate against left-handed batters in 2023. Expect Yoshida to put the ball in play each time he steps in the batter’s box this evening.
