MLB Player Props Today

Shane McClanahan o17.5 outs recorded (-150), BetMGM

During the month of May, the Milwaukee Brewers’ offense has been unimpressive against left-handed pitching, ranking 26th in OPS, 23rd in ISO, 19th in walk rate, and 29th in strikeout percentage. Tonight, they have to contend with Shane McClanahan, who is one of the most talented southpaws in all of baseball. McClanahan lasted only 4.0 innings in his most recent turn through the rotation, but he had recorded 18 outs in six of his previous eight trips to the hill. Facing an anemic Milwaukee lineup on Friday night, McClanahan should have little trouble completing six innings – take the over.

Mike Trout o0.5 total bases (-149), Caesars

Joe Ryan, one of the better pitchers in the American League, will start tonight’s game for the Minnesota Twins. However, the market is still far too cold on Mike Trout in this spot. Entering play on Friday, Trout has at least one total base in 30 of his 42 games played, including 13 of his 18 home games. Simply, a player of Trout’s caliber, someone who owns a .280 batting average for the season, should not be playable at this price against any pitcher. Factor in that Trout will likely get at least one, if not two, plate appearances against the Minnesota bullpen, and we are in a good position to cash an over here.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Starling Marte fewer than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

PrizePicks is astutely not allowing us to play less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts on Masataka Yoshida tonight, so we are forced to look elsewhere for a player who we trust to make contact on Friday evening. Starling Marte fits our criteria for tonight – he owns a 16.3% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in 2023. On Friday, he gets a matchup with Cal Quantrill, who has a meager 7.1% strikeout rate against right-handed batters this year. It would be very very surprising to see Marte get punched out in the early portion of this contest. We will take our chances that Marte can avoid a strikeout in the late innings against some of Cleveland’s more powerful arms.
