Happy Monday! Today’s 10-game MLB slate begins at 6:40 p.m. ET, with Paul Skenes and the Pirates hosting the Nationals at PNC Park. The other 9 games are scheduled throughout the rest of the evening, giving the betting community plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking to begin the new week.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Monday, April 14th!

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, April 14th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Monday, April 14th:

Carlos Carrasco UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-175, BetMGM)

Carlos Carrasco has been extremely efficient early in 2025, averaging only 3.5 pitches per batter faced. That being said, his efficiency has been a result of hitters aggressively attacking everything he’s thrown in the zone. Entering play on Monday, Carrasco has allowed a 90.3% in-zone contact rate and has a swinging-strike rate well below the league average. He’s allowing a tremendous amount of hard contact as well, making it difficult to see any realistic optimism for him going forward.

Kansas City’s offense has been among the worst in baseball against RHP this year, ranking 27th in wRC+. Still, they should be capable of getting to Carrasco for at least a few runs in this spot. Behind Carrasco, New York has a very rested bullpen, with Yoendrys Gomez and possibly Ryan Yarbrough likely available in long relief. Everyone not named Mark Leiter Jr. should be ready to go this evening. The Yankees would likely be more than content with a five-and-dive performance from Carrasco to begin the new week.

Taijuan Walker UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+130, bet365)

San Francisco’s offense has performed well to begin the new campaign, but they still aren’t producing at a level where the market should be expecting 3 runs from them in the first 5 innings of games. Taijuan Walker was close to an auto-fade last season, but he did a weighted ball program this past offseason, which has helped him recover some lost velocity. Though he’s still far from an ace, he’s much closer to serviceable now than he was at this point a year ago.

Walker should be able to keep the damage done against him to a minimum in the early portion of tonight’s contest against San Francisco.

Tanner Houck OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-145, BetMGM)

Tanner Houck has not looked good whatsoever to begin 2025, but he’s faced 24 batters in 2 of his first 3 turns through the rotation this season, which means he’s consistently being given an opportunity to work into the 6th inning of games. Houck doesn’t draw the most favorable matchup this evening, facing a patient Tampa Bay offense in a hitter-friendly ballpark, but Boston is unlikely to have Aroldis Chapman available on Monday and Garrett Whitlock threw 22 pitches on Sunday, so there may be a desire to get some additional length from Houck here, if possible. Houck gets enough ground balls to the point that the hitter-friendly venue in Tampa shouldn’t have a massive impact here. The over has a little bit of value.
