Happy Monday! Tonight’s 9-game MLB slate will begin at 6:40 p.m. ET. Notably, Eury Perez will make his long-awaited return to the big league this evening against the Pirates. Other starters like Matthew Boyd, Zack Wheeler, and Chris Sale are also scheduled to pitch, which should make for an entertaining night of baseball.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, June 9th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Monday, June 9th:

Brayan Bello OVER 5.5 Hits Allowed (-120, DraftKings)

Bello has allowed 6+ hits in 4 of his last 5 turns through the rotation. This evening, he will have to contend with a Tampa Bay lineup that ranks 9th in batting average and 3rd in wRC+ against right-handed pitching during the last two weeks of action. Boston’s arm barn is also in poor shape heading into the new week, which means Manager Alex Cora might ask Bello for some extra length on Monday. Of course, the longer Bello remains on the bump, the more opportunities he will have to allow baserunners. The weather isn’t ideal for hitting in Boston tonight, but Bello allows enough contact that he’s at risk of allowing 6+ hits against most good offenses.

Eury Perez OVER 1.5 Walks Allowed (-130, bet365)

Perez was once a premier prospect, but we haven’t seen him pitch in an MLB game since 2023 due to an elbow injury. Tonight, he will return to the big league to face the Pirates, an offense that has walked in nearly 9% of their plate appearances against right-handed pitching across the last two weeks. Coming back from an elbow injury, pitchers often struggle with their command in their immediate ramp-up phase. Perez walked 3+ batters in 2 of his 3 Triple-A rehab starts despite not facing more than 20 batters in each of those games. Now he will have to deal with even more talented hitters as he returns to The Show. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue to struggle with his command. The primary risk factor is that Perez probably won’t last more than 5 innings regardless of pitch count, as the Marlins work to ease him back into a normal workload.

Nick Pivetta OVER 4.5 Hits Allowed (-120, DraftKings)

Entering play on Monday, the Padres have used Robert Suarez, Jason Adam, Jeremiah Estrada, Adrian Morejon, and Wandy Peralta each twice in the last 3 days. They also used Sean Reynolds and Yuki Matsui yesterday, so both of those guys would be pitching on consecutive days if used this evening. All of that is to say that Pivetta is likely to have a long leash, with San Diego likely trying to avoid overusing their bullpen once again. Across the last 14 days, the Dodgers’ offense owns the league’s highest batting average and 2nd-best wRC+ against right-handed pitching. There is some value on the over.
