MLB Player Props Today
- Rich Hill u6.5 Strikeouts
- Andrew Abbott u4.5 Strikeouts
- Bryson Stott less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts
Rich Hill u6.5 Strikeouts (-185), DraftKings
Across his last eight starts, Rich Hill has only eclipsed this market number twice, giving him a 25% hit rate on the over in that span. A market price of -185 translates to a 64.9% implied probability on this play, even though the data suggests that it is far more likely than not that Hill goes under in this spot. The Milwaukee Brewers have developed a reputation this season as one of the most strikeout-prone offenses in the league, but they have been better of late against southpaws – ranking a respectable 18th in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching during the month of June. The under makes a lot of sense here, even at the juicy price.
Andrew Abbott u4.5 Strikeouts (-130), BetMGM
Since June 1, the Houston Astros rank sixth-best in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching, punching out in only 17.1% of their total plate appearances. Andrew Abbott has made two starts this year at the MLB level, earning six strikeouts against the Milwaukee Brewers and four strikeouts against the St. Louis Cardinals. This month, the Brewers rank 18th in strikeout percentage against southpaws, and the Cardinals rank 12th. The Astros are, by far, Abbott’s toughest matchup to date since begin promoted to the big leagues. The under is a great look.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Entering play on Friday, Domingo German has only struck out 23.1% of the left-handed batters that he has seen in 2023. Yoshida has gone down on strikes in only 11.2% of his plate appearances against right-handed pitching this year, making him a good bet to put the ball in play against German in the early portion of this contest. Yoshida, surprisingly, struck out twice on Wednesday. Following an off-day yesterday, he is a strong bounce-back candidate for today’s slate.
