MLB Player Props Today

Graham Ashcraft u4.5 Strikeouts (-156), FanDuel

Across his last 12 turns through the rotation, Graham Ashcraft has eclipsed this market number only twice – once against the St. Louis Cardinals and once against the Chicago Cubs. Since May 15th, the Cardinals and Cubs both rank 14th or worse in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching. During that same stretch of time, the San Diego Padres rank 8th. Since June 1, the Padres have swung and missed at the second fewest pitches of any team in Major League Baseball. Factor in that the strikeout-averse Jeff Nelson is calling balls and strikes in this matchup, and we have a recipe for minimal punchouts. The under makes a lot of sense here for a lot of different reasons.

Luis Severino u5.5 Strikeouts (-155), PointsBet

Since returning from the injured list, Luis Severino has eclipsed this market number only twice in seven starts – both times only barely eclipsing the market number and finishing with six strikeouts. During the month of June, the St. Louis Cardinals rank a respectable 14th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching. According to props.cash, the Cardinals have struck out only five times total against right-handed starting pitching in three such games since June 25. Take the under in this spot. Feel free to parlay this play with the Ashcraft play if you prefer to avoid the juice.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Alec Bohm less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Entering play on Friday, Alec Bohm has struck out in only 17.9% of his plate appearances against right-handed pitching in 2023. Today, he gets to face Josiah Gray, who has struck out only 17.6% of the right-handed batters he has faced this season. Combining Gray’s overall struggles against right-handed hitters with Bohm’s high-contact approach should allow Bohm to avoid a strikeout in the early portion of this contest. We will trust Bohm to put the ball in play against the Washington Nationals bullpen in this spot as well.
