MLB Player Props Today

Nathan Eovaldi o15.5 Outs Recorded (-120), BetMGM

Nathan Eovaldi has made four starts this October, completing at least six innings in each of those trips to the mound. Manager Bruce Bochy has a painfully obvious lack of depth in his bullpen heading into the World Series, which has led to him pushing his starting pitchers longer than his peers this October. The plan has been abundantly clear through the first three rounds of the postseason for the Rangers – get six innings out of their starter before handing the ball over to Josh Sborz, Aroldis Chapman, and Jose Leclerc for the final three frames of the contest. Eovaldi is likely to have another long leash on Friday night as Bochy looks to avoid using anyone other than Sborz, Chapman, and Leclerc in Game 1.

Zac Gallen o15.5 Outs Recorded (+110), BetMGM

Zac Gallen has been far less effective than Nathan Eovaldi so far this postseason, but he has been similarly pushed deep into games due to similar bullpen issues in Arizona. Other than Kevin Ginkel and Paul Sewald, Manager Tony Lovullo does not have many reliable options at his disposal. Ryan Thompson has been serviceable as a third option, but the plan is similar to Bochy in the sense that Lovullo would ideally get six innings from his starter to avoid needing a bridge to his higher-leverage relievers. Gallen has recorded at least 15 outs in each of his four starts this October. He should be competitive at this market number again when he takes the bump to begin the World Series.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Zac Gallen Less Than 4.5 Strikeouts, PrizePicks

During the regular season, Zac Gallen struck out 26.0% of batters he faced. In four playoff starts, he has struck out only 13.5% of the batters he has faced. In his most recent outing, Gallen’s spin rates were down on his 4-seam fastball and knuckle curve, relative to their regular season average. Consequently, he has yet to record more than four strikeouts in any of his outings during these playoffs, and he had only one strikeout in six innings in his last start. Facing a dangerous Texas lineup, five strikeouts is a tall order.
