MLB Player Props Today

Cristian Javier o15.5 Outs Recorded (+120), FanDuel

Since June 21, Cristian Javier has only eclipsed this market number two times in nine turns through the rotation. In that span, he has an unsightly 7.56 ERA and a 6.67 FIP. Nevertheless, the Houston Astros are going to get as much length as they possibly can out of Javier in this spot, after heavily tapping into their bullpen each of the last two days. During the month of August, the Boston Red Sox rank 20th in walk rate and have the 4th-lowest strikeout percentage among all teams against right-handed pitching. This is a recipe for quick plate appearances, which could help Javier get into the sixth inning on Monday night.

Nolan Arenado u0.5 Strikeouts (-110), DraftKings

Though not officially confirmed as of this writing, it appears probable that Bailey Falter will get the nod for the Pittsburgh Pirates this evening against the St. Louis Cardinals. On the season, Nolan Arenado ranks in the 80th percentile in strikeout rate and the 72nd percentile in whiff percentage among qualified hitters. He has been even better in those departments against southpaws, striking out in only 13.3% of his total plate appearances. This is a worthwhile risk for bettors to begin the new week.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Masataka Yoshida Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Masataka Yoshida failed us yesterday, but at least he struck out in the first inning, so that we could quickly move on emotionally to our other action. Entering play on Monday, Yoshida has struck out in four consecutive contests for the first time since joining the big leagues. Yoshida will get another good opportunity tonight to snap this unfortunate streak, facing Cristian Javier, who owns a pedestrian 16.0% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters this year.
