MLB Player Props Today

Luis Ortiz u4.5 strikeouts (+108), FanDuel

Since being recalled on May 9, Luis Ortiz has failed to record more than four strikeouts in any individual outing. In his most recent turn through the rotation, Ortiz had only four strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work against a Texas Rangers team that ranks 24th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching during the month of May. Ortiz is unlikely to pitch into the 8th inning very often, making it particularly notable that he still managed only four strikeouts in that contest. This afternoon, he will face the Seattle Mariners, which rank 21st in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this month. Take the under and live with the results.

Spencer Strider u4.5 hits allowed (-135), BetMGM

Spencer Strider most commonly allows either four hits or five hits when he takes the mound. In 10 starts this year, Strider has allowed exactly four hits three times and exactly five hits three other times. Nevertheless, Strider also has three starts with fewer than four hits allowed in 2023. During the month of May, the Philadelphia Phillies rank 14th in OPS and 29th in ISO against right-handed pitching. Facing one of the better right-handed pitchers in the National League, expect their offense to continue to struggle.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

When PrizePicks has this option available, we recommend this play 100% of the time. Entering play on Sunday, Yoshida owns an impressive 10.3% strikeout rate. Later today, he gets to face Merrill Kelly, who is far less effective in terms of swings and misses against left-handed batters than he is against right-handed batters. Trust Yoshida to put the ball in play today each time he steps in the box.
