MLB Player Props Today
- Nathan Eovaldi u15.5 Outs Recorded
- Framber Valdez o14.5 Outs Recorded
- Framber Valdez + Nathan Eovaldi Less Than 9.0 Strikeouts (Combo)
Nathan Eovaldi u15.5 Outs Recorded (-150), DraftKings
Nathan Eovaldi has completed at least six innings in each of his first three starts during these playoffs, but tonight will be his toughest test yet, facing the red hot Houston offense in a hyper-proximity matchup. Even if this were a regular season contest, there would be concerns about Eovaldi in this spot, having faced these same hitters less than a week ago. Today, the Rangers just so happen to also have their season on the line, which means that Eovaldi will likely need to be close to perfect to pitch into the sixth inning today. Manager Bruce Bochy clearly only trusts three relievers in his bullpen, which makes this play somewhat risky. Still, a small stab makes sense here given the importance of this game for Texas and the potential for Eovaldi to get hit a little bit harder than he did earlier in this series.
Framber Valdez o14.5 Outs Recorded (-130), DraftKings
Framber Valdez has not been sharp in either of his first two starts this postseason, but there is still a clear pathway for him to record 15 outs in Game 6. Returning home, Houston has two opportunities to win one game, meaning that manager Dusty Baker can afford to give Valdez a longer leash today than if it were a win-or-go-home atmosphere. Valdez was outstanding for the Astros in their run to the World Series in 2022, offering hope that his last two outings are simply a pair of outlier performances that came at the wrong time of the year. There are risks here, but the over is a worthwhile risk.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Framber Valdez + Nathan Eovaldi Less Than 9.0 Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Both Framber Valdez and Nathan Eovaldi are high-quality pitchers, but they both have to contend with a hyper-proximity matchup on Sunday night. As a result, both Valdez and Eovaldi are at risk of not pitching deep into this contest. If either Valdez or Eovaldi gets an extremely early hook this evening, it would put a significant burden on the other starter to cover the rest of these strikeouts by himself. This is a solid option for anyone who is looking to fade these starters tonight in a collective fashion.
