Happy Thursday! Today’s 8-game MLB slate began with five games under the sun earlier this afternoon. Still, three games are left to get underway as of this writing, giving the betting community plenty of time to get themselves to the window for some action on the diamond.
Yesterday, we went 1-1-1 in this article, with a voided ticket on our Aaron Nola strikeout recommendation. Still, we are 60-43-5 across our last 36 posts. Since May 1, we are 81-59-6 on non-Home Run props and 2-4 on Home Run recommendations. We are now 71-34-2 on pitcher prop recommendations for the season. There is plenty of opportunity once again on the player prop market today – below are three prop leans for June 22!

MLB Player Props Today
- Shane McClanahan o6.5 Strikeouts
- Anthony Rizzo o1.5 Total Bases
- Jarred Kelenic less than 1.5 Hitter Strikeouts
Shane McClanahan o6.5 Strikeouts (-155), PointsBet
According to props.cash, 11 of the last 13 left-handed pitchers who have started against the Kansas City Royals have eclipsed their pre-game market number for strikeouts. In that span, Jesus Luzardo has recorded eight strikeouts, and MacKenzie has totaled 11 strikeouts. Since June 1, the Royals rank 21st out of 30 teams in strikeout percentage against southpaws, having struck out in over a quarter of their total plate appearances. Shane McClanahan enters play with three consecutive games of only five strikeouts, but each of those matchups was against a high-contact opponent. Expect a much more impressive performance from him this evening in a more favorable matchup.
Anthony Rizzo o1.5 Total Bases (+145), FanDuel
Anthony Rizzo has eclipsed this market in 19 of his 38 home games this season. Still, a recent cold spell creates an opportunity for bettors to get significant plus money in this spot. Since May 27, Rizzo has posted dreadful numbers – .145 batting average and a .426 OPS. However, this could be a good spot for Rizzo to get back on track, facing Bryan Woo. Since being promoted to the big leagues, Woo owns a 13.94 FIP, 3.00 WHIP, and a .471 opponent batting average against left-handed batters. Notably, these struggles across the platoon were also evident during his time in the minor leagues. At this price, a small wager on Rizzo to have a nice game is a worthwhile risk.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Jarred Kelenic less than 1.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Since June 3, Jarred Kelenic has struck out at least once in 12 of his 14 games played, creating a rare opportunity for his market number to be posted at 1.5 for hitter strikeouts. In 2023, Domingo German owns a rather unimpressive 22.0% strikeout rate against left-handed batters. Across his last six starts, German has three games in which he has recorded three total strikeouts or fewer. Kelenic will almost certainly strike out at least once tonight, but he should be able to avoid a second strikeout here.
