The Major League Baseball Postseason returns on Tuesday with an exciting four-game slate. The action will begin at 3:08 p.m. ET with a matchup between the Rangers and Rays, with the rest of the action staggered throughout the day. Though the playoffs are less predictable than the regular season, there is still plenty of opportunity in the player prop market for bettors who are willing to get their hands dirty with extra research.

During the regular season, we went 103-63-6 (62.6%) across our last 172 recommendations in this article. We are 120-59 (67.2%) on pitcher prop recommendations since Opening Day.

We will look to get the playoffs started on a high note in 2023 – below are three prop leans for October 3!

MLB Player Props Today

Kevin Gausman o15.5 Outs Recorded (-125), BetMGM

In the playoffs, pitchers are obviously on shorter leashes, given the gravity of each pitch. However, this is still Kevin Gausman, who was in the American League Cy Young race for the majority of the regular season. Gausman’s primary struggles are against left-handed batters, but that issue could be mitigated by strong winds blowing across the field from right to left this afternoon. Any ball in the air to right field should, in theory, be knocked down and kept in the yard. The Toronto Blue Jays do not have a particularly deep bullpen, which also limits the incentive to be over aggressive in going to the arm barn in Game 1. Gausman should be able to do enough to earn a trip out to the mound to begin the sixth inning, at a minimum.

Jordan Montgomery u15.5 Outs Recorded (-118), FanDuel

Jordan Montgomery performed well for the Texas Rangers after the trade deadline, but this is a tough matchup for him against a Tampa Bay Rays offense that ranked 3rd in OPS and 4th in ISO against left-handed pitching during the final month of the regular season. Many of Tampa Bay’s hitters have also performed particularly well against left-handed curveballs this season, which is arguably Montgomery’s most effective pitch across the platoon. It would not be surprising to see the Rays’ offense get off to a strong start in Game 1, which would prompt an early exit for Montgomery.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Corbin Burnes More Than 16.5 Outs Recorded, PrizePicks

There is little debate that the Arizona Diamondbacks have the worst offense of any team still playing for a championship in 2023. In September, the Diamondbacks ranked 28th in OPS and 28th in ISO against right-handed pitching. Not counting his abbreviated final start of the year, Burnes eclipsed this market number in 14 of his final 15 starts in the regular season. Burnes is a bonafide ace and should be given ample leash in this contest, especially if he is pitching well. He should be able to get through six innings on Tuesday.
