MLB Player Props Today

Jose Quintana u4.5 Strikeouts (-165), BetMGM

In his last four turns through the rotation, Jose Quintana is yet to record more than five strikeouts, despite a couple of favorable matchups. Tonight, Quintana has, arguably, his toughest matchup to date – at least from a contact perspective. During the last 30 days, no team in baseball has a lower strikeout rate against left-handed pitching than the Washington Nationals. Quintana has struggled to a 52.1% first-pitch strike rate across his last four starts, meaning that he is frequently falling behind and being forced to come closer to the middle-third of the plate deeper in counts. The data strongly supports the under in this spot.

CJ Abrams u0.5 Strikeouts (+205), DraftKings

Entering play on Tuesday, Jose Quintana has struck out only 17.6% of the left-handed hitters he has faced in 2023. CJ Abrams has experienced struggles making contact on a regular basis against southpaws, but has been much improved in recent weeks. Since July 1, Abrams has struck out in only 17.6% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitching. At significant plus money, this is unquestionably a worthwhile risk.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Corbin Carroll Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Corbin Carroll has struck out in only 11.0% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitching in 2023. Tonight, he gets to face southpaw Kyle Freeland, who ranks in the 3rd percentile in strikeout percentage and 2nd percentile in whiff rate this season. Freeland has allowed contact on at least 90% of the pitches he has thrown in the zone in each of his last six outings. Carroll should be able to avoid a punch-out on Tuesday.
