MLB Player Props Today
- Framber Valdez u6.5 Strikeouts
- Michael Wacha u4.5 Strikeouts
- Jose Ramirez less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts
Framber Valdez u6.5 Strikeouts (-145), BetMGM
Since May 15, the Washington Nationals have the 6th-lowest strikeout rate of any offense in baseball against left-handed pitching. During the month of June, the Nationals have struck out less often against southpaws than any other team in the entire league. Entering play, Valdez has eclipsed this market number in five of his last seven turns through the rotation, but all five of those outings came against teams that rank strikeout more often than the league-average offense against left-handed pitching during the last 30 days of action. In a tough matchup, Valdez is going to have a difficult time hitting the over here. The primary risk factor on this play is that the strikeout-friendly Jeremy Riggs is calling balls and strikes, but the under is still likely to cash in this spot.
Michael Wacha u4.5 Strikeouts (-142), FanDuel
In his last seven turns through the rotation, Michael Wacha has eclipsed this market number three times, but all three of those instances came against offenses that have a tendency to swing-and-miss often. Wacha struck out seven batters against the Seattle Mariners, eight batters against the Chicago Cubs, and 11 batters against the Kansas City Royals in that span – each of those teams ranks 26th or worse in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching since May 15. Tonight, Wacha will have a much tougher test against a Cleveland Guardians lineup that has struck out less often against right-handed pitching than every other team besides the Washington Nationals in the last month. The under is a great look here.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Jose Ramirez less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Entering play on Wednesday, Jose Ramirez has struck out in only 9.1% of his plate appearances against right-handed pitching this season. Tonight, he will face Michael Wacha, who ranks worse than league average in whiff rate. Wacha’s fastball velocity ranks in the 14th percentile and his spin rates are among the worst in baseball. Facing a hitter of Ramirez’s caliber, Wacha is going to have an extremely difficult time generating a strikeout. We trust Ramirez in the latter frames against the San Diego Padres bullpen as well.
