MLB Player Props Today

Zach Eflin u15.5 Outs Recorded (-167), Caesars

Zach Eflin has been criminally underrated all season in Tampa Bay, but there are very few scenarios in which manager Kevin Cash allows Eflin to pitch into the sixth inning in Game 2. Eflin has routinely been pulled at low pitch counts this season, regardless of how well he had pitched to that point in the game. This afternoon, Cash has his five best relievers available and rested in the bullpen. The season is on the line for the Rays, which means that the bullpen will be called in at the first sign of trouble. The under is a smart look here.

Freddy Peralta o14.5 Outs Recorded (-135), BetMGM

There is no intelligent explanation for manager Craig Counsell using Devin Williams for 31 pitches in Game 1, but bettors should not complain because it sets up a great opportunity for Freddy Peralta at this market number in Game 2. The questionable availability of Williams makes it all but a certainty that Peralta should be pushed through at least five innings today to shorten the number of lower-leverage bullpen arms that Milwaukee has to use this evening. The Diamondbacks ranked 28th in OPS and 28th in ISO against right-handed pitching during the month of September and Peralta’s splits are much better at American Family Field than on the road. Everything is aligned for Peralta to secure 15 outs tonight.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Braxton Garrett Less Than 4.0 Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Braxton Garrett tossed a career-high 159.2 innings of work during the regular season, which led to some late-season fatigue and poor results. In his last nine turns through the rotation, Garrett rarely missed bats, with an 8.0% swinging-strike rate. He allowed contact on 92.9% of pitches that were swung at in the strike zone, which was 7.1% higher than his numbers prior to that point. Though his velocity remained strong into September, his spin rates on every pitch other than his slider took a slight downturn in the final month of regular season action. Philadelphia strikes out at a high clip against left-handed pitching, but they also have the potential to chase Garrett from this game prior to the fifth inning. The under is a worthwhile risk in this spot.
