MLB PrizePicks Predictions Today: Top Plays for Sunday, June 2nd

Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.
In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.
PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple, and our MLB PrizePicks tool makes the process even simpler.
All stats cited are since the start of the 2023 season unless otherwise noted.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Sunday, June 2nd
- Mookie Betts MORE Than 8.0 Fantasy Points
- Nick Lodolo MORE Than 16.5 Outs
- Willy Adames MORE Than 1.5 Total Bases (DEMON)
- Taijuan Walker LESS Than 17.5 Outs
- Jake Irvin LESS Than 17.5 Outs
Mookie Betts MORE Than 8.0 Fantasy Points
Mookie Betts against a bad lefty. He has a .430 wOBA, .295 ISO, and a 12.2% barrel rate against southpaws, and Austin Gomber is worse than the average lefty. Gomber has a 5.01 SIERA and 5.83 K/9 to go with a 9.1% barrel rate allowed on an 82% contact rate. Betts only has an 11% K rate against lefties, so he should get a ton of good wood on the ball against Gomber, and the Rockies bullpen isn’t much relief for Colorado. We have Betts projected for 11 fantasy points.
Nick Lodolo MORE Than 16.5 Outs
Nick Lodolo has a tiny home run problem, but he’s otherwise one of the low-key better pitchers in baseball. He has a 3.24 SIERA through 327 batters faced with 11.21 K/9 and just 2.29 BB/9. His leash is unpredictable, but he has thrown 98+ pitches in 3 of his last 5 starts. With the wind blowing in a bit and cooler temperatures, his projected 93 pitches should get stretched deep into the 6th inning at the least. We have Lodolo projected for 17.1 outs and his MORE than 16.5 outs as a top play on the board according to our pick ‘em tool.
Willy Adames MORE Than 1.5 Total Bases (DEMON)
Nick Nastrini hasn’t shown anything that tells us he should be an MLB pitcher right now. He has a 6.84 SIERA, 7.16 K/9, 9.37 BB/9, and 2.20 HR/9 allowed on a 16.4% barrel rate through 85 batters faced. The sample is tiny, but again, there’s no reason for hope here. The 1.5 total bases PrizePicks projection for Willy Adames is too low in a ceiling spot for him. He has a .197 ISO and 11.4% barrel rate against righties that he takes to Nastrini’s 42.1% fly-ball rate against righties. Following Nastrini is the worst bullpen in baseball in a good hitting ballpark, so we have Adames projected for 2.2 total bases.
Taijuan Walker LESS Than 17.5 Outs
Our projections are really low on Taijuan Walker against the gutless Cardinals because St. Louis’ projected lineup is pretty patient (22.6% K rate to 9.3% BB rate against righties). Walker has gone 6+ IP in 4 of 6 starts, but under 5 in 2 of his last 3. Projected for 16.8 outs, our pick ‘em tool has Walker’s LESS than 17.5 outs as one of the best plays on the board because his ceiling is a lot closer to 18-19 than 21, with a floor as low as 12-13. We also have Walker projected to surrender 7.2 hits against his 5.5 PrizePicks projection, so there’s another way to attack Walker today.
Jake Irvin LESS Than 17.5 Outs
Jake Irvin can’t strike anyone out, gives up a 10.1% barrel rate, and the Guardians are one of the best teams in MLB at making contact. Irvin should get knocked around pretty hard, as he surrenders a 47.2% hard-hit rate to the Guardians projected lineup’s 6 hard-hit rates over 47%. We have Irvin projected for 15.9 outs, and his LESS than 17.5 outs is one of the best plays on the board according to our pick ‘em tool.
All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.
It’s a full slate without many soft DEMON projections, so we’re gonna feel good about a normal volume day of just stacking the best plays. The best DEMON boosters to sprinkle around are probably in the fantasy point categories for pitchers and hitters today, as total bases and Ks are pretty tight squeezes.
