Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.

In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.

PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple, and our MLB PrizePicks picks tool makes the process even simpler.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Tuesday, August 6th

Sonny Gray MORE Than 7.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)

Gray is having a monster season for strikeouts. His 30.5% K rate gets to face a Rays projected lineup that has a 26.6% K rate against RHP. With one of the longest leashes in the game, Gray has a shot to cruise to 8+ Ks, where we have him projected for 7.6. There’s just too much potential for 7 IP that we can’t pass this DEMON up.

Seth Lugo MORE Than 5.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)

Lugo isn’t a great strikeout pitcher, but he can get close to a K per inning against a Red Sox projected lineup with 4 hitters who have a K rate of 23.6% or higher against RHP. And Lugo has been getting a lot of volume, with 6+ IP in 12 of his last 13 starts, so 5.5 Ks is just a bit too low for a DEMON projection. We have him projected for 5.3.

Anthony Santander MORE Than 1.5 Total Bases (DEMON)

Chris Bassitt straight-up stinks against lefties. In a good ballpark for hitting, Santander brings a double-digit barrel rate and 55.3% hard-hit rate versus RHP against Bassitt’s 10.3% barrel rate allowed to lefties. This DEMON projection is probably a full base too low, as we have Santander projected for 2.4 total bases.

All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.

Not gonna lie. I don’t like this slate very much. It’s much more of a DFS slate than a fantasy pick’em slate. I will still play 5 PrizePicks contests, using the little edge that does exist with these DEMONs, but I’m keeping it cheap.
