MLB PrizePicks Predictions Today: Top Plays for Wednesday, June 5th
Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.
In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.
PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple, and our MLB PrizePicks tool makes the process even simpler.
All stats cited are since the start of the 2023 season unless otherwise noted.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Wednesday, June 5th
- Logan Gilbert MORE Than 18.5 Outs (DEMON)
- Aaron Judge MORE Than 2.5 Total Bases (DEMON)
- Braxton Garrett MORE Than 5.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
- Joey Estes MORE Than 5.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
- James Paxton MORE Than 15.5 Outs (DEMON)
Logan Gilbert MORE Than 18.5 Outs (DEMON)
DEMON boosts are hot today! There are a lot of tight squeezes, but good juice, nonetheless. The sexiest is Logan Gilbert to go deep against the A’s. The A’s aren’t as terrible as many in fantasy circles say they are, but they’re still bad enough for a pitcher as solid as Gilbert to dominate. Gilbert has gone 6+ IP in his last 4 starts — 9 of his last 10. Getting over the hump for that 19th out means he pitches into the 7th inning, which he’s done in 7 of 12 starts this season, and this is a weaker opponent, so we have to like his shot to get that 19th out and beyond tonight. We have him projected for 18.1 outs, so this is a play on the DEMON payout.
Aaron Judge MORE Than 2.5 Total Bases (DEMON)
Aaron Judge has one of the best home run matchups on the slate in one of the best home run parks in baseball. Chris Paddack isn’t a gas can, but his power prevention is pretty bad, and he surrenders a good deal of contact (77.4%). Paddack has given up 1,64 HR/9 on a 10.6% barrel rate — 12% to righties. Judge smashes right-handed pitching for a 26.5% barrel rate. We have Judge projected for 2.6 total bases, making the DEMON reward a +EV on the board.
Braxton Garrett MORE Than 5.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
Staying with DEMON value, Braxton Garrett is in a really high tier among all MLB pitchers. He has a 3.56 SIERA despite just 8.69 K/9 because of 1.57 BB/9 and 1.08 HR/9 allowed. There’s a lot of baked-in talent here, and nothing about the Rays is scary. Their projected lineup has a lot of raw power, but the collective ISO is just .156 against lefties, while they’re striking out 27% of the time. Garrett’s pitch count is unpredictable, but we’ve seen him throw a complete game shutout this season in Arizona and we have him projected for 5.3 strikeouts on the night.
Joey Estes MORE Than 5.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
Joey Estes is not in a high tier among all MLB pitchers, but the Mariners strike out a bit, and Estes has a long leash. The M’s projected lineup has a 24.5% K rate this season against righties, while Estes has a good-enough 23% K rate through 87 batters faced in 2024. He’s gone 5+ IP in 3 of 4 starts, so this is a bit of a coin flip with juice, as we have him also projected for 5.3 strikeouts on the night.
James Paxton MORE Than 15.5 Outs (DEMON)
The way to get James Paxton out of the game is to knock the ball out of the park. Something that the Pirates struggle to do against lefties. Their projected lineup’s collective barrel rate is just 7.6% against southpaws. Paxton hasn’t gone more than 4.2 innings in his last 2 starts but went 6+ in the 4 games prior to those starts, so the leash is there if he’s rolling. Another coin flip spot with juice, as we have Paxton projected for 15.2 outs.
All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.
Where the standard projections are available for these DEMONs, we should have high exposure to the MORE than mixed-in DEMON boosts. I like 3-way contests today in large bulk to fit in all of these great DEMONs.
