The new week of MLB action will begin tonight at 6:40 p.m. EST on the east coast. This evening, 28 of the league’s 30 teams will be action, offering bettors plenty of opportunity to find a play or two to their liking.

Yesterday, we cashed our second consecutive longshot parlay at +816 odds! On Saturday, we hit a +917 longshot parlay. Today, we hope to make it three in a row!

We have cashed 11 tickets since debuting this article and only narrowly missed another 27 winners. Playing longshot parlays each day, there will be big winners, but there will always be days in which it was more profitable to play each leg as an individual wager. As we highlight each day in this piece, these plays have been most profitable played individually, even though we have been profitable with the parlay odds as well.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 108-84-1 (56.3%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+769) look for August 28, focusing on today’s matchup between the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 28, 2023

San Diego Padres -2.5 (+122)

Have no illusions – the San Diego Padres are a bad baseball team. However, they have an opportunity for a convincing win to begin the new week and they are certainly due for a good performance after getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. The St. Louis Cardinals have lost nine of their last 11 contests, with eight of those losses coming by at least three runs. Tonight, they will send Adam Wainwright to the hill, who owns a 12.56 ERA, 7.55 FIP, and 2.41 WHIP across his last nine starts. Even the lowly Friars should be able to take care of business in this lopsided affair.

Blake Snell o7.5 Strikeouts (+114)

The St. Louis Cardinals are often thought of as a lineup that mashes southpaws, but that could not be further from the case in recent weeks. Since August 15, the Cardinals rank 29th in OPS, 25th in ISO, 11th in BB%, and 28th in K% against left-handed pitching. According to props.cash, each of the last four left-handed starters to face the Cardinals have easily cleared their pre-game market number for strikeouts. At plus-money, this is a worthwhile inclusion in today’s longshot parlay.

Juan Soto to record an RBI (+125)

Entering play on Monday, Juan Soto ranks tied for 26th in Major League Baseball in runs batted in (RBI). Soto remains near the top of the league leaderboard in this category, despite the fact that he has only three RBI since August 12. For context, Soto had 11 RBI from July 31 to August 11 and 17 RBI from July 14 to July 30. Simply, it is difficult to believe that Soto has driven in so few runs in recent weeks. He is likely to experience positive regression in this department sooner rather than later, and possibly as early as tonight in a favorable matchup against Adam Wainwright.

Under 15.5 (-1450)

Since May 25, Blake Snell has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 17 consecutive starts. In that span, he owns a 1.48 ERA, 2.97 FIP, 1.13 WHIP and has held opposing hitters to a .170 batting average. Both the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals have offensive attacks that rank in the bottom-third of the league since August 15, meaning that this game should not get out of hand from a scoring perspective. Take the under here to increase our odds slightly.
