MLB Season in Review: Lessons Learned & Tuesday MLB Lineup

With only two more days in the regular season, I figure this will be my last article on baseball and what better way to end it than to give a review of the year. Being my first year of fantasy baseball, there were plenty of “learning experiences” that were a little more expensive than I would have liked. Here are just a few lessons learned the hard way:

MLB Lessons Learned

#1: The “are you kidding me, he’s not playing?” lesson: At the first of the season, I had no idea that teams posted their lineups each day. I would just pick my team and hope for the best. I can’t tell you how many times one of my players weren’t in the lineup. Finding out about being able to check Daily MLB Lineups was a lesson that took a little too long to learn.

#2: The when it rains, it pours lesson: This was not a fun lesson to learn, but it is a very important one: Check the weather; every day. I lost a few too many leagues due to rain-outs. Lesson learned.

#3: The if you join an empty snake draft, don’t forget about it lesson: Have you ever joined a snake draft and waited for it to fill and then forgot about it? And by the time you remember your team is already and is full of injured players? I have done that quite a few times. Lesson learned.

#4: The never play Adam Dunn lesson (learned a few times over and over): Oh boy was this a fun lesson to learn. During the middle of the season he kept showing flashes of turning it around, and with a price tag of $1,500 it couldn’t hurt to pick him right? Wrong! He got me at least -3 every time I played him.

#5: The make sure to check Pitcher vs. Batter stats: At the first of the year I kept hearing people talk about these statistics and I never took the time to check them. I could never figure out why the good competition kept coming up with these great plays every night. Once I started researching BvP, I never went back.

#6: Final Lesson: Baseball is a streaky sport, even fantasy baseball: This lesson is based on bankroll management. Too many times after a bad night, I would try to win it all back the next night by entering more and more leagues. Don’t do it, if you want to enter more leagues, do it after a good night.

If you didn’t get to experience these lessons first hand, then you missed out! Even though it took a while to learn them the hard way, overall it was a great season and I’m sad to see it go. And since there is only two days left I figure I will give you my lineup for tomorrow. I am definitely making no guarantees because last week when I gave you my lineup it only ended up with about 40 points. But hopefully today will be much better:

The Final Lineup

Thanks for reading my articles this season! Best of luck as the MLB season closes, and I’ll see you for the MLB Playoffs and NFL Season.
